It’s the first dip into Big 12 conference play for both the visiting Colorado Buffaloes and host Houston Cougars on Friday.
It’s just the second time ever these teams have gone head-to-head, and not since the 1971 Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl.
We’ve looked up and down the player charts for our favorite Week 3 college football player props. Read below for our best Colorado vs. Houston predictions and college football picks below.
Colorado vs Houston props for Week 3
Connors o52.5 rushing yards (-114)
Staub o1.5 passing touchdowns (+134)
Taylor anytime touchdown (+120)
Prop bet #1: Dean Connors Over 52.5 rushing yards
This Houston Cougars senior running back has been dynamite to start the year, albeit against some inferior competition.
Connor ran wild over Rice, carrying 13 times for 132 yards and a pair of scores. On the season, he’s averaging a healthy 6.5 yards a pop on 28 carries.
Colorado’s run defense was a literal turnstile in a 27-20 loss to Georgia Tech in their opener, as the Yellow Jackets erupted for 320 rushing yards and three TDs.
The Buffs cleaned it up against Delaware, allowing 84 yards on 30 carries. Houston should fall somewhere in between those numbers, and Connors will be at the center of it.
Prop bet #2: Ryan Staub Over 1.5 passing touchdowns
Houston currently boasts one of the Big 12’s top defenses, allowing just 4.5 points per game, 78 yards per game through the air, and zero passing touchdowns.
Even without NFL graduates Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes are a major level-up from what the Cougars have faced this season.
Expect the Buffs to give the Cougars their first real test of the season — with Staub finding success in the passing game.
Prop bet #3: Dekalon Taylor anytime touchdown
Let’s wrap with Colorado running back Dekalon Taylor, who has found paydirt in each of his team’s first two games. He’s done both as a pass-catcher, averaging 43.5 yards receiving through two games with those two scores.
A transfer from Incarnate Word, Taylor rushed for nine scores last year, and coincidentally, didn’t have one TD catch on the season.
He should be involved in this Buffs attack again Thursday and is in a good spot to keep his scoring trend going, whether by rush or reception.
