Week 4's afternoon slate features a little bit of good (Auburn vs. Oklahoma), a little bit of intriguing (Michigan vs. Nebraska, Tulane vs. Mississippi), and a little bit of "cover all children's eyes" (Oregon vs. Oregon State).
We've got a best bet for each of those games, plus a few additional matchups in the late-afternoon time slot — see below for our college football picks and analysis.

Oregon vs Oregon State best bet
This is one of the biggest lookahead spots of Week 4 as the Oregon Ducks have a visit to Happy Valley on deck to face No. 2 Penn State next week.
There’s no incentive for Oregon to play all the cards in its deck with such a prestigious showdown on the calendar a week from now, so expecting the Ducks to cover a spread above five touchdowns is too much for my liking.

Auburn vs Oklahoma best bet
Simply put, no matchup with offensive lines like these and quarterbacks like these should feature a total below 49. Stop taking quality line play and impressive quarterback performances as the standard. They are not. And offenses that can reliably trust them should be trusted to score points, particularly if they need to keep up with each other.

Tulane vs Mississippi best bet
It appears that the Rebels' rushing defense will be the team’s weakness. Through three games this season, it ranks 134th nationally in EPA per rush. One of these came against a dynamic Arkansas offense, so there’s no shame in that, but another came against a very one-dimensional Kentucky team that ran with ease. Not only has Jake Retzlaff been the most efficient runner for the Wave this season, he’s also been the most explosive, averaging double-digit yards per carry.

Michigan vs Nebraska best bet
The Nebraska offense struggled in the red zone and were held to just 20 points against Cincinnati, their only true test; it's going to struggle to find the endzone consistently against the Wolverines' defense. Meanwhile, Michigan will be without a starting guard and freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood has been very inconsistent with a 57.5% completion percentage.

North Carolina vs UCF best bet
Playing at home, the Knights can put 30+ on the board themselves. Even if the Tar Heels' offense isn’t dominant, they’ll still be successful enough rushing the football to push this game past this modest point total.

Purdue vs Notre Dame best bet
Last week, Jadarian Price found the end zone twice, once from seven yards and once from 17. He was also taken down at the one-yard line. Price gets opportunities where it matters most, and the Irish should have so many quality drives against Purdue that it leads to a genuine handful of opportunities for Price.
