Saturday brings the Hall of Fame Classic as Providence faces Nebraska on the hardwood in Uncasville, Connecticut.

My Providence vs. Nebraska prediction is buying the hype with Bryan Hodgson's well-assembled Friars squad.

Read on for my full college basketball picks for Providence vs. Nebraska on Saturday, Nov. 7.

 TOP PICK
Who will win Providence vs Nebraska: Providence +2.5

If this line catches your eye as "short" for a more proven Nebraska team, you're definitely not alone. The thing is, Providence may be unproven, but the Friars are lethal, so I'm backing them at any underdog price.

Former South Florida head coach Bryan Hodgson ran a coup in the portal, and I fully expect the Friars to be one of the most improved teams in the country and exceed their current KenPom ranking (51st). Malik Mack is a strong lead guard, and defensive anchor Miles Byrd is a pest to play against.

Nebraska had a great 28-7 record last year, but you're paying the price in the market, and the Cornhuskers didn't replace the departures well enough to "run it back."

Proven scoring is lacking outside of Pryce Sandfort and Braden Frager, and I'm betting it takes a while for this team to click.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Providence had eight different players reach a DBPR above 1.00 in its opening game (per Evan Miya), highlighted by Byrd's 4.31.

Providence vs Nebraska Over/Under pick

Points might be hard to come by for either squad, so I'm on the Under.

Nebraska has proven to be a sound defensive program under Fred Hoiberg, allowing only 66.1 ppg last year. Finishing in the top 15 in defensive efficiency this season is a realistic goal.

Providence has sound personnel defensively, and Hodgson's South Florida squad held teams to 41.6% from the field a season ago. With Byrd as the stop-man, Providence should build much of its identity around a defense that limits opponents' efficiency.

Providence vs Nebraska combo

This line tells you Providence is going to be a problem in the Big East this season. I'm buying the hype, so why not "full send" and back the Friars in the first half, and then bank on them pulling out the win?

Nebraska's offensive attack is still in prove-it mode outside of Sandfort and Frager, and Byrd is a tremendous option to limit either's scoring efficiency.
