The LSU Tigers will look to right the ship after dropping six of their last seven when they visit the Texas Longhorns tonight.

The Longhorns have been dominant during their four-game winning streak, and my LSU vs. Texas predictions expect that trend to continue.

Let’s take a look at how these SEC rivals match up in my free college basketball picks for Tuesday, February 17.

LSU vs Texas prediction

LSU vs Texas best bet: Texas -11.5 (-110)

Texas is taking it to its SEC opposition, winning four of its last six games by double digits. That’s been good news for backers of the Longhorns, as they’ve covered in six of their last seven games.

LSU has been poor defensively, allowing 75.3 ppg this year. That’s going to be a serious issue against a Texas team that ranks sixth in offensive rating according to KenPom, with the Longhorns averaging 81.8 ppg over their last 10.

The Tigers don’t have the firepower to keep up with that scoring, which is why I’m taking Texas to cover.

LSU vs Texas same-game parlay

Texas has an elite offense that should be able to push this game to the Over against LSU, with the Longhorns having hit the Over in four of their last five games.

I also like Texas guard Dailyn Swain to hit his personal scoring Over after seeing him go for 20+ points in five of his last seven outings.

Our beyond the arc SGP: Horns Up

Swain has made multiple shots from deep in four of his last seven games, and center Matas Vokietaitis has eclipsed this rebound total in two of his last three outings.

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
