Iowa Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark continues to chase history. Still, the Lady Hawkeyes are also chasing a Big Ten title, and a victory on Sunday keeps them tied in the standings with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Standing in the Hawkeyes' way is a Nebraska Cornhusker program hoping to end a nine-game losing streak against Iowa while keeping their slim Women’s NCAA March Madness tournament hopes alive.

Iowa vs Nebraska picks and predictions
While Caitlin Clark and her trek towards history is all the chatter in national women’s college basketball circles, the talk in Hawkeyes land is the No. 2 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes are tied with Ohio State for the Big Ten title and shouldn’t be.
If, for some reason, Iowa were to lose the Big Ten title, they could point to their overtime away loss to the Lady Buckeyes as exhibit A. The Lady Hawkeyes squandered a 15-point early fourth-quarter lead before bowing in overtime 100-92 at Ohio State.
Since then, Iowa has reeled off four consecutive victories with strong away wins over Northwestern and Maryland and has kept the pace with Ohio State in the standings. They’ve learned to keep their feet on the gas pedal when they have a big lead and have won 15 of their last 16 Big Ten games since February 2023.
Nebraska is coming off a big away victory over Michigan but has dropped three of their last five, and it’s difficult at times to determine which Cornhuskers program will show up on any given night.
If the Cornhuskers hope to win this game and impress the committee with a huge Quadrant 1 victory, they’ll need to score at least 85 points because scoring points is what the Lady Hawkeyes and Clark do better than any other women’s program in the nation.
Iowa has scored 80 or more in each of their last nine Big Ten games and will likely continue that trend as they’ve scored 80 points or more in eight of their last nine against Nebraska.
The Cornhuskers allow 63 points per game but have allowed more than their average in three of their previous five, and they’ve obviously been unable to limit Iowa recently.
Nebraska has a better-than-average offense they can hurt the turnstile Hawkeyes' defense with–Alexis Markowski averages nearly a double-double, and the ladies drain 32% of their triple attempts and 42% of their attempts inside the arc. Iowa hasn’t stopped anyone defensively all season and won’t likely keep Nebraska off the scoreboard, either.
Finally, while all the fuss will be about Clark, two programs will fight hard on Sunday. Look for both offenses to have great nights with very little defense. Clark makes history, and this game ends Over the number.
My best bet: Over 156.5 (-110 at DraftKings)
Caitlin Clark prop pick
Within the next seven days, barring unforeseen circumstances, the little girl from West Des Moines, Iowa, who grew up watching Iowa Hawkeyes basketball, will become the greatest individual scorer in Women’s College Basketball history.
It could happen as soon as Sunday afternoon or Thursday night when they host Michigan. Either way, Caitlin Clark will have her name in the record books.
Sunday would be a good setting for it. The game is being held before Super Bowl LVIII; a sell-out crowd and a national audience will watch Clark attempt to make history.
Clark leads the nation in scoring–she’s scored 39 or more in three of the Hawkeyes' 24 games, and she needs 39 to break former Washington Huskies star Kelsey Plum’s seven-year career scoring mark.
Over her last five away games, Clark has scored as many as 45 (Ohio State) and as few as 26 at Purdue. She scored 38 on 8-15 shooting from downtown in her last go with Nebraska, and she might need to score that many just to beat the Cornhuskers at Nebraska.
Nebraska allows 28% from beyond the arc. Clark may have gone off, but the Cornhuskers held the rest of the Hawkeyes shooters to just 4-14 from downtown. If not for Clark scoring 38, the Lady Hawkeyes may have found themselves in some trouble.
Finally, this is a big game for Iowa. The Lady Hawkeyes returned to play together and win not only the Big Ten but a natty, and they’ll need Clark to go off to at least win the Big Ten. The Cornhuskers play terrific perimeter defense, but Miss Clark will step on the floor with one purpose: to defeat the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Iowa will do just that, and Clark will etch her name in the history books as the greatest scorer in D1 women’s college basketball history.
Caitlin Clark prop: When will Clark score point No. 3,528? February 11 at Nebraska (+200 at DraftKings).

Iowa vs Nebraska spread and Over/Under analysis
Sunday’s contest should be amazing, and what a contrast we’ll have when the big-scoring Iowa offense meets the conference's fourth-best Nebraska defense.
Iowa isn’t only Clark; Kate Martin has recorded four double-doubles, Gabbie Marshall has 200 career triples with 200 career assists, and is one of the country's best perimeter defenders. Hannah Stuelke scored 47 Thursday night against Penn State.
Nebraska has played well at home; they are 5-2 over their last seven and have allowed 70 points or fewer in four of their previous five home games. They are the 12th-best rebounding team and No. 36 nationally in offensive rebound percentage.
Clark and the Hawkeyes are the third-best three-point shooting team in the conference, but Nebraska knocks down the fifth-most. The difference between the two is the Cornhuskers are the best at defending the triple, while the Lady Hawkeyes rank fourth.
Iowa plays a fast tempo, and they run whenever they get the chance, which is partially why they score so many points per night. Nebraska is a slow-paced program, but both teams have terrific three-point shooters, and the Cornhuskers defense slowing down everyone else but Clark could keep this one close enough to cover the +15.5-point spread.
