Devin Booker Phoenix Suns NBA

The Phoenix Suns are building momentum with five wins in their last six games, and they’ll look to keep up their strong play at home when they host the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.

Devin Booker and Dillon Brooks offer a strong 1-2 scoring punch, and my Thunder vs. Suns predictions expect the pair to keep Phoenix competitive.

Here are my best free NBA picks for this Western Conference matchup on Sunday, January 4.

Thunder vs Suns prediction

Thunder vs Suns best bet: Devin Booker Over 23.5 points (-115)

Devin Booker is averaging 25.7 points per game this season, and he's scored at least 24 in 19 of 31 games, including 12 of 16 at home. Since returning from a three-game absence, he's averaged 27.6 points and hit the Over on this line in six of nine appearances.

Booker is on a roll, and he’s scored at least 32 points in back-to-back games while shooting better than 56% in that span. He’s reached 24+ points in three of his last four home matchups against Western Conference opponents.

In his only matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Booker finished with 21 points in OKC, but he’s been a more effective scorer at home, so he should have no problem scoring three more points in Phoenix.

He'll need to be at his best to keep pace with the Thunder, and I'm betting on another strong scoring performance.

Thunder vs Suns same-game parlay

Dillon Brooks is averaging a career-best 21.4 points, and he's scored at least 19 points in 16 of 28 appearances. He's averaged 24.5 points at home compared to just 19 on the road, and he's hit the Over on this scoring line in nine of 12 in Phoenix.

Brooks scored 19 in his last matchup with the Thunder, and I expect him to hit that mark again tonight.

The Thunder boast the NBA's best record at 30-5, but OKC is just 18-17 ATS. The Phoenix Suns are 22-11-1 ATS, including an NBA-best 12-4 mark at home.

The Suns have covered in five of their last six, and I'll back them to keep rolling thanks in large part to the 1-2 scoring punch of Booker and Brooks.

Thunder vs Suns SGP

  • Devin Booker Over 23.5 points
  • Dillon Brooks Over 18.5 points
  • Suns +9.5

Our "from downtown" SGP: Holmgren cleans the glass

Chet Holmgren is averaging 8.2 rebounds per game this season, and he's reached at least 10 rebounds in only seven games. However, he's been on a roll as of late, and three of those 10+ rebound games have come within his last five appearances, with an average of 11 boards per game in that span. Isaiah Hartenstein will be out for a fourth straight game, and I'll bet that Holmgren continues to crash the glass with authority.

Thunder vs Suns SGP

  • Devin Booker Over 23.5 points
  • Dillon Brooks Over 18.5 points
  • Suns +9.5
  • Chet Holmgren Over 9.5 rebounds

Thunder vs Suns odds

  • Spread: Oklahoma City -9.5 (-110) | Phoenix +9.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Oklahoma City -400 | Phoenix +320
