The red-hot Phoenix Suns look to continue their four-game winning streak when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers in a New Year’s Eve afternoon matchup.

Phoenix has some injury concerns in its backcourt, and my Suns vs. Cavs predictions expect a big scoring night from Donovan Mitchell.

Read on for my NBA picks for Wednesday, December 31.

Suns vs Cavaliers prediction

Suns vs Cavaliers best bet: Donovan Mitchell Over 28.5 points (-115)

Donovan Mitchell has scored only 26 points across his last two games, well below the 29.5 points per game he typically contributes.

With the injury-thin Phoenix Suns backcourt missing Jalen Green and likely Grayson Allen, I expect the Cleveland Cavaliers guard to shake his slump this afternoon at Rocket Arena.

Phoenix will likely be without two of its best perimeter and on-ball defenders, a situation Mitchell typically loves to exploit.

The versatile-scoring Mitchell likes to hunt his shot early after a miserable scoring night. Look for the Cavs guard to get his shot up early and often, and end 2025 with a bang.

Suns vs Cavaliers same-game parlay

Mitchell loves to hunt the early triple. He’s knocking down 37% of his 10 long-range attempts at Rocket Arena and meets a Phoenix road defense allowing 37% from downtown.

Suns center Mark Williams returns from a one-game suspension, and he’s recorded eight or more rebounds in three straight games.

The Cavs like to push the pace, but their defense has allowed more than 117 points in eight of their previous nine.

The Suns can light it up, and their 34% offensive rebound percentage will take advantage of Cleveland, and send today’s game Over the total.

Suns vs Cavaliers SGP

  • Donovan Mitchell Over 28.5 points
  • Donovan Mitchell Over 3.5 threes
  • Mark Williams Over 8.5 rebounds
  • Over 235.5

Our "from downtown" SGP: Sharp shooter

Darius Garland has knocked down three or more triples in five of his previous eight games, and should be the recipient of some trailer threes thanks to a generous Suns team allowing a 28th-worst 20 ppg from turnovers.

Suns vs Cavaliers SGP

  • Donovan Mitchell Over 28.5 points
  • Donovan Mitchell Over 3.5 threes
  • Mark Williams Over 8.5 rebounds
  • Over 235.5
  • Darius Garland Over 2.5 threes

Suns vs Cavaliers odds

  • Spread: Suns +5.5 | Cavaliers -5.5
  • Moneyline: Suns +175 | Cavaliers -210
  • Over/Under: Over 235.5 | Under 235.5
