While most of the Toronto sports scene is focused on the Blue Jays in the World Series, let’s not forget that a new era begins for the Raptors when they open their season with a trip to Atlanta to take on the Hawks.

Raptors vs Hawks best bet: Brandon Ingram Over 18.5 points (-102)
The Toronto Raptors stunned most of the basketball world when they traded for Brandon Ingram at the deadline. They took it to the next level by extending the former All-Star.
Now, Ingram sat out the remainder of last season with an ankle sprain, but he looks ready to go with his new team. Ingram, who averaged 23 points while shooting 37.2% from 3-point range with 5.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists during his six years with New Orleans.
He’s looked a lot like that guy in the preseason with the Raptors, averaging 18.3 points with a 52.3% shooting percentage from beyond the arc with 5.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists in just over 27 minutes per game in four preseason games.
Now, he faces an intriguing Atlanta Hawks team. The Hawks have a Defensive Player of the Year candidate in Dyson Daniels. But even with him, the Hawks finished 18th in defensive rating. And now, they’ve added Kristaps Porzingis to the mix, which won’t exactly improve their play at that end of the floor.
Porzingis will likely match up with Ingram plenty in this game, and I like that a lot for the Toronto small forward. I’m betting Ingram starts his Raptors career with a bang and goes Over his point total of 18.5.
Raptors vs Hawks same-game parlay
At this point, Ingram looks like a good fit with his new team, and with Ingram, the Raptors have one of the more underrated rosters in the Eastern Conference. With the conference so wide open, the Hawks are one of the teams that are getting some love as a potential dark horse, but Toronto shouldn’t be too far behind.
If Scottie Barnes can continue to develop and Immanuel Quickley can have a healthy season, this team is probably better than you realize. The Raptors also beat the Hawks in both meetings in Atlanta last season, both as underdogs of at least five points. I like Toronto to keep this one close, so add the Raps +5.5 to this SGP.
And let’s round it out with Kristaps Porzingis to go Over 1.5 assists. The Hawks brought KP in to help alleviate some of the scoring from Trae Young, but he’s a decent playmaker for a scoring big as well and has averaged 2.3 assists per game over the last four seasons.
