Today’s NBA Player Prop Picks: Spida Weaves Long-Distance Web

We've got a loaded slate of games tonight, which means there's ample opportunity to dive into the player props market. We especially like Donovan Mitchell to bounce back from downtown at plus money against the defensively deficient Trail Blazers.

We’ve got an absolutely jam-packed night of NBA action with a whopping 12 games on the board to bet on. That means there is plenty of value to be found in the player prop market.

Today, we look at one of our favorite trends going as Domantas Sabonis continues to do it all for the Kings, and can Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell find his shooting touch against the Trail Blazers?

Check out our NBA player prop picks for Wednesday, March 9, as we bank on some of the NBA's best to do their thing.

Today’s best NBA player props

Joker's wild

Now, honestly, we had the rug pulled out from under us with the Domantas Sabonis suspension. We were already walking to the window to collect on another Over 17.5 assists + rebounds prop only for Sabonis to get the banhammer. But we will pivot like a pro and take a prop for another big man in tonight’s game between the Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings. That is, of course, none other than the Joker himself, Nikola Jokic.

The reigning MVP is making one hell of a push to defend that title. Jokic is an absolute freak of nature on the basketball court, averaging 25.9 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game this season. He is arguably having a better year than a season ago when he won the award.

But the Joker has taken it to the next level lately, recording four triple-doubles in his last five games. That includes going for 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists in the February 26th meeting against the Kings. And in the game before that, Jokic missed another triple-double by just one assist.

The Kings already stink on defense and not having Sabonis makes it worse. They rank 29th in defensive rating, 21st in opponent rebounds per game, and 20th in opponent assists per game. With no Sabonis, Jokic should face little resistance here. Let’s go with a triple-double for the Joker at plus money tonight.

Pick: Nikola Jokic triple-double - yes (+120)

Mitchell the 3-point machine

Donovan Mitchell’s red-hot hand from beyond the arc has cooled off just a little bit recently, but we’re betting he finds his shooting touch once again when the Portland Trail Blazers come to town to take on the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.

Mitchell was making it rain from deep ever since returning from a concussion that cost him eight games from the middle of January through early February. Mitchell has hit 44.2% of his attempts in his first nine games back but is just 9 for 31 (29%) over his last three games.

Luckily for Mitchell, he gets exactly the kind of matchup he’ll want to find his rhythm again. The Trail Blazers have many issues, but they really struggle when it comes to defending the perimeter. Only the Detroit Pistons allow opponents to shoot better than the 37% the Blazers give up from 3-point range while allowing teams to attempt the seventh most threes per game.

While Mitchell is in a mini-slump (by his standards), he's still shooting 40.5% from downtown on 10.5 attempts per game over the 12 games since he’s returned to the Jazz lineup, and he's drained four or more threes eight times over that stretch.

And you’re giving us plus money for him to do it again in this matchup? Sign me up.

Pick: Donovan Mitchell Over 3.5 made threes (+115)

All aboard the Kuzma train

Kyle Kuzma seems to love being “the man” for the Washington Wizards these days. Maybe too much so at times. But the Wizards seem to still be fighting for a play-in spot in the Eastern Conference and that fight continues tonight when they visit the Los Angeles Clippers.

While Kuzma hasn’t been as dominant on the glass as he has been at times this season, he is still averaging 9.0 rebounds over his last 10 games. And here’s the thing about Kuzma when it comes to rebounding, he can struggle on the boards against good rebounding teams but shines up that glass against bad ones. And the Clippers are definitively a bad one.

The Clippers were seemingly playing good basketball but that now looks more like a product of playing the Lakers and Rockets a combined five times after consecutive losses where they’ve put up less than 100 points. While they are a strong defensive team, they tend to struggle on the boards. Los Angeles ranks 25th in rebounding percentage and 28th in opponent rebounds per game.

Additionally, the Clippers will be playing their second game in as many nights while the Wizards have been off since Sunday. Kuzma hauled down 12 boards in a meeting against the Clippers back on Jan. 25. Don’t be surprised if he gets close to that again.

Pick: Kyle Kuzma Over 8.5 rebounds (-115)
