It feels like a throwback as the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics battle atop the Eastern Conference, with the latest chapter of their rivalry set to play out tonight at TD Garden.

Detroit moved to 20-5 after Friday’s win over the Hawks, and my Pistons vs. Celtics predictions and NBA picks expect the visitors to dig deep and make amends for a loss in Boston last month.

Pistons vs Celtics best bet: Pistons moneyline (+105)

The relentless Detroit Pistons continue to play like a team that feels it’s not getting enough respect as a threat to reach the NBA Finals, and tonight represents another opportunity to make a statement.

Sure, this version of the Boston Celtics is far removed from the 2024 championship roster, but Detroit can still deliver a message, and I see the visitors grinding out a victory.

The Pistons are 5-1 in their last six games, including wins over the Hawks and Heat, and they’re 8-3 on their travels this year. One of those losses came in a nail-biter at TD Garden in November, where Cade Cunningham & Co. almost overcame Boston's 47% night from 3-point range.

It might be the depth factor that tips the scales in Detroit’s favor. A bench group that features Caris LeVert, Isaiah Stewart, Ron Holland II, and Jaden Ivey gives J.B. Bickerstaff the luxury of mixing and matching lineups without reducing the physicality level. Boston will struggle to match that, especially if Payton Pritchard (questionable) is ruled out.

The Celtics stumbled to a loss against the Giannis-less Bucks last week, and I’m wagering on the Pistons’ snarling defense to do just enough to limit Jaylen Brown.

Pistons vs Celtics same-game parlay

Even with some rough nights thrown in, Duncan Robinson is shooting 41% from 3-point range this year — and he’s on pace for his best mark since the 2020/21 season. He’s gone past this number in three of his past four outings, and he had some big games in Boston in the Heat’s 2023 playoff run.

The Celtics could be vulnerable on the glass here, so Derrick White’s rebounding will be key. He’s grabbed 4+ boards in nine of his last 13 contests, including seven rebounds in the previous matchup between these teams.

Our "from downtown" SGP: Duncan helps Detroit

Duren’s rise has sped up Detroit’s timeline, but I’m fading his points prop tonight. Despite solid contributions, he’s fallen short of this number in six of his past eight contests, and he didn’t get much going on his last visit to TD Garden, where he made just four of his 10 shots.
