NBA Picks and Predictions for February 10

Michael Porter Jr.'s made 3-pointers prop tonight against Cleveland is 1.5, although he is shooting 42.9 percent from deep and has hit multiple threes in 11 of 13 games this season.

Death, taxes, and Brooklyn Nets Overs—all certainties in life at this point. Ever since the Nets traded for James Harden, the offense has been cooking, but defense seems optional as the Nets cashing Overs is the best NBA betting trend going in the Association.

The trend will get a chance to continue when the Nets host the Indiana Pacers tonight. We break down the NBA odds for that game and more with our best free NBA picks and predictions for Wednesday, February 10.

NBA Picks for Today

Toronto Raptors vs Washington Wizards

After beginning the season a dreadful 2-8, the Toronto Raptors have slowly but surely climbed their way out of the Eastern Conference basement and now own an 11-13 record. And speaking of dreadful, their opponent Wednesday night is the Washington Wizards.

To be fair, the Wizards are in one of their best stretches of the season, winning three of their last six games, and while Bradley Beal continues to have yet another standout (but seemingly wasted) season, the Wizards’ defense continues to hold them back.

No one in the NBA gives up more points per game this season than the Wizards. They also rank 28th in defensive rating and 29th in opponent field goal percentage.

The Raptors could be without two starters for this matchup, as OG Anunoby is out with a calf injury and Kyle Lowry is questionable to play with his back flaring up. But that just should create more opportunities for the likes of Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet.

But tonight, we focus on Siakam. The Raptors’ forward is arguably playing his best basketball since before entering the bubble, as he is averaging 27.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.7 assists over his last six games. He has also put up more than 30 points four times over that stretch while improving his 3-point shooting to 33.3 percent. That’s not great, but it shows how much he was struggling before.

Siakam should get plenty of room to work against the Wizards—take him to eclipse his point total in this one.

PREDICTION: Pascal Siakam Over 21.5 Points (-105)

Indiana Pacers vs Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets' incredible Over run continued last night with a 122-111 loss to the Detroit Pistons. That’s right. The Nets allowed 122 points to a five-win Pistons team that ranks 24th in the league in scoring

Now, Kevin Durant did not play last night, but that almost seems beside the point. The Nets have now cashed the Over in 18 of their last 20 games and in 11 of the last 13 since acquiring James Harden

Obviously, the offense has not been a problem for the Nets. They rank third in offensive rating and first in scoring since forming their big three with Harden, but the defense on the other hand, well that’s another story.

The Nets are giving up a league-worst 123.8 points per game and are rank dead last in defensive rating in the 13 games with Harden as a member of the team. Wednesday, the Nets face a more than a capable offensive team in the Indiana Pacers, which has its own set of defensive issues to boot.

Until this trend starts cashing hard in the opposite direction, there’s no reason to fade it now.

PREDICTION: Over 234.5 (-110)

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Denver Nuggets

A 10-15 record may not seem like much, but after winning just 19 games in each of the last two seasons, that’s a huge step forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers. And the big reason for the turnaround has been the team buying into J.B. Bickerstaff’s game plan on the defensive end. But that defense will be put to the test when they visit Nikola Jokic and the up-tempo Denver Nuggets’ offense tonight.

Jokic's play this season has been nothing short of brilliant and it’s no surprise he is one of the betting favorites to win the NBA MVP. The Joker’s court vision is incredible and he’ll use that to attack the Cavs’ one big weakness on defense—which is defending the arc.

Cleveland ranks dead last in the NBA when it comes to opponent 3-point shooting percentage, allowing teams to shoot nearly 40 percent from downtown this season and will have to deal with a Nuggets’ team that ranks sixth in shooting from deep.

One of those Nuggets’ sharpshooters is Michael Porter Jr. The small forward is shooting 42.9 percent from deep and while he has cooled down a bit after a hot start, this has created some value. Porter’s made threes prop is just at 1.5 for this matchup, and he has hit multiple threes in nine of his 13 games this season, including going 2-5 from deep last time out against Milwaukee.

We like him to continue that trend against the Cavs’ shaky-at-best perimeter defense.

PREDICTION: Michael Porter Jr. Over 1.5 Made Threes (-130)
