The Toronto Raptors’ upstart surge in the East has looked increasingly real during a seven-game win streak, but the level of competition goes up a notch when they face the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight.

While Toronto has feasted on a diet of also-rans lately, it’s hard to argue with the balanced scoring propelling one of the league’s most surprising offenses, and that’s a swing factor as I lay out my Cavaliers vs Raptors predictions.

Cavaliers vs Raptors prediction

Cavaliers vs Raptors best bet: Raptors +2.5 (-111)

There’s something brewing in the 6ix, and the Toronto Raptors’ 12-5 start has served notice they could make some noise in this weakened Eastern Conference.

Sure, there’s a risk of overreacting to wins against the Indiana Pacers, Washington Wizards, and Brooklyn Nets, but the numbers point to Toronto taking care of business on both ends of the floor.

The hosts rank fifth in the NBA in defensive rating and second in offense. They’re even averaging 30 assists per game — not bad for a team that seemed heavy on ball-stopping scorers.

Given all that, it’s a little surprising to see Scottie Barnes & Co. as home underdogs here. With the Raptors posting a 7-3 against the spread mark across their past 10 outings, I’ll gladly take the points tonight against a team they’ve already between twice this season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will lean heavily on Donovan Mitchell to drive the offense, but Toronto has thrived on a committee approach, so Barnes, Brandon Ingram, and Immanuel Quickley can shoulder the workload if R.J. Barrett’s knee sprain keeps him out.

The Cavs have their own injury worries, with Jarrett Allen, Lonzo Ball, and Sam Merrill all listed as questionable.

It’s the second night of a back-to-back set for both teams, but the Raps have the superior bench depth and haven’t had to travel. Don’t be surprised if they escape with an eighth straight win.

Cavaliers vs Raptors same-game parlay

Evan Mobley is coming off consecutive double-digit rebounding efforts, and I’m picking a repeat of that work on the boards. Those hauls came as the sole big man in the Cleveland starting five, but even if Allen returns tonight, his court time has dipped to 26 MPG.

Despite having so many scoring options on the floor, the Raptors want to see Quickley hoisting 3-pointers. He’s got the memo in his last few games, knocking down three or more triples in four straight contests, and he’s up to 39% from downtown this season.

Cavaliers vs Raptors SGP

  • Raptors +2.5
  • Evan Mobley Over 9.5 rebounds
  • Immanuel Quickley Over 2.5 threes

Our "from downtown" SGP: Offense by committee

Sandro Mamukelashvili has to rank among the summer’s biggest free agent bargains, and he’s given the Raptors a huge spark off the bench as a willing passer and shooter. I’m grabbing the Over on his assists total here, with Mamu dishing 2+ dimes in four of his past five games.

Cavaliers vs Raptors SGP

  • Raptors +2.5
  • Evan Mobley Over 9.5 rebounds
  • Immanuel Quickley Over 2.5 threes
  • Sandro Mamukelashvili Over 1.5 assists

Cavaliers vs Raptors odds

  • Spread: Cavaliers -2.5 | Raptors +2.5
  • Moneyline: Cavaliers -135 | Raptors +115
  • Over/Under: Over 235.5 | Under 235.5
