The NASCAR Cup Series will be at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on Sunday for the first international points-paying race since the Viva Mexico 250 in 1958.

This is not only a road course but a novel one at that, so the odds will be a bit trickier to navigate compared to most weeks. Our free betting picks for Sunday, June 15 will help sort things out.

Viva Mexico 250 field

There will be 37 drivers in the Viva Mexico 250 field, with Katherine Legge once again joining the 36 chartered members.

Shane Van Gisbergen's road-racing prowess has made him the early betting favorite at +330. Other single-digit options include Christopher Bell, William Byron, Tyler Reddick, and Kyle Larson.

Last week's winner at Michigan, Denny Hamlin, opened at +4000 to record his first road course win since 2016. However, he has dropped out of the race following his fiance giving birth to the couple's third child.

Daniel Suarez is much lower on the board than most weeks at +1400 as the "hometown" favorite, but it's not entirely without merit as he previously won a Cup Series road race at Sonoma in 2022.

Viva Mexico 250 expert picks and predictions

Odds listed below courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook as of 6-13.

Viva Mexico 250 pre-qualifying favorites

Christopher Bell (+700)
Christopher Bell finished runner-up in two of his five road course starts last season and won the only road race this season at COTA. He has one Top-5 finish in the last seven following five in the first eight.

William Byron (+800)
William Byron had three Top-10 finishes, including a COTA win, on road courses last season and finished runner-up in Austin this year.

Tyler Reddick (+800)
In his last 12 road course starts, Tyler Reddick has one win, four Top-5s, and seven Top-10s. He placed third in COTA for his second Top-5 finish in the first three races of the season.

Chase Elliott (+1000)
The Hendrick Motorsports driver won the Daytona road course inaugural race in 2020 and the Road America and COTA inaugural races in 2021.

Chase Elliott had four Top-10 finishes in five road course starts in 2023, two Top-10 finishes last year, and ran fourth at COTA this year. My only pause is he’s finished 15th or 16th in five of the last seven races on the season.

Viva Mexico 250 sleepers

Chris Buescher (+1600)
Chris Buescher's six road course finishes of 2023 read: eighth (COTA), fourth (Sonoma), 10th (Chicago), 11th (Indianapolis), seventh (Watkins Glen), and seventh (ROVAL). Last year he finished eighth (COTA), third (Sonoma), 20th (Chicago), first (Watkins Glen), and 17th (ROVAL).

He was seventh at COTA this year and enters after a runner-up finish last week in Michigan.

Ross Chastain (+1800)
A year after scoring one Top-5 finish on road courses, Ross Chastain rallied to secure three finishes of seventh or better in five road course starts last season. He was 12th in COTA this March.

Ty Gibbs (+3000)
A great road racer in ARCA and the Xfinity Series, Ty Gibbs finished in the Top 10 four times in six starts on these tracks as a Cup Series rookie in 2023, including his final two finishes of fifth and fourth.

Last season, Gibbs finished third in COTA and runner-up on the streets of Chicago. He’s finding moments following a third-place finish last week.

Joey Logano (+5500)
Joey Logano had four Top-10 finishes in the final five road races of the 2023 season, including two Top 5s, but results of 11th, 21st, 23rd, 15th, and eighth on like tracks last year. He was 24th at COTA in 2025.

The thing is, Logano won the inaugural race at L.A. Coliseum, the first race at Bristol Dirt, the first trip to World Wide Technology Raceway... you get the picture.

Viva Mexico 250 fades

Shane Van Gisbergen (+330)
I like the driver, but not the number. This is Shane Van Gisbergen's eighth Cup Series road course start, and he has two Top-5 finishes and five Top-10 results. While he won three road course races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series last season and the inaugural Chicago street race in 2023, can he really be victorious in Mexico City?

Kyle Larson (+800)
Kyle Larson won twice on road courses last season at Sonoma and the Charlotte ROVAL. Those were also his only Top-10 results on like tracks, too.

He had one Top-5 finish in six road course starts in 2023 also and finished 32nd in COTA. While he has six Top-8 finishes in the last eight races, I don’t like the number or his chances on Sunday.

Daniel Suarez (+1400)
I’m not high on the native driver. Daniel Suarez was 36th in COTA this year and 31st, 14th, 11th, 13th and 30th on road courses last season. He also has two Top-10 finishes in the last 10 points-paying races this season.

Michael McDowell (+1800)
Yes, Michael McDowell won on Indianapolis’ road course in 2023, but that was his lone Top-5 finish in six road course starts, with his final two being 36th and 32nd. He did have three Top-7 finishes in five road course starts last season, but was 11th in COTA.

Viva Mexico 250 prop pick: Kyle Busch Top 5 finish

Kyle Busch had four Top-5 finishes in six road course races in 2023, with three of the four resulting in a Top 3. He also had a pair of Top-10 finishes in five road course events last season.

Pick: Kyle Busch Top 5 finish (+180 at DraftKings)

Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez track analysis

The inaugural race around the 14-turn track doesn’t have much history to base much off of. The track differs from the Grand Prix setup which used 17 turns over 2.674-miles. Also, this is different than when the Xfinity Series came from 2005 through 2008 which used an 8-turn, 2.518-mile setup.

This is a natural road course so will run similar to Sonoma or COTA in a way than Watkins Glen which features walls around or the Charlotte ROVAL, which is a road course in the oval track.

  • Chevrolet, who have won the pole for four of the last six road course races, won on four of the five road course races last season, with all wins coming via Hendrick Motorsports.
  • Christopher Bell's Toyota won the lone road course this season in COTA.
  • In 15 of the 18 road course races with the Next Gen car, the race winner has started in the Top 8. Bell started 19th in March at COTA.
