Yankees vs Rangers Prediction, Picks & Odds — Monday, August 4

The Yankees just got swept by the Marlins and are looking like a shell of their dominant selves. Well, Max Fried can deliver them from this mess against the Rangers tonight while New York's bats do the job vs. Patrick Corbin.

The New York Yankees and ace Max Fried look to snap a three-game slide with a win over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field on Monday, August 4.

Texas will counter with veteran Patrick Corbin, and my top Yankees vs. Rangers predictions and MLB picks are calling for the Bronx Bombers to have a solid night at the dish.

Yankees vs Rangers best bet analysis

The New York Yankees and Texas Rangers send polar opposite lineups to the dish against lefties, with the Bronx Bombers pacing the majors in wOBA vs. southpaws and the Rangers ranking second last.

There’s also no comparison between the Yankees ace Max Fried and Rangers veteran Patrick Corbin.

Fried has spun a tidy 2.62 ERA and 1.03 WHIP, and while his 3.38 xERA and 3.43 xFIP are both notably higher, I don't expect the Texas bats to bring the statistical correction to his ledger.

Turning to Corbin, he’s had a throwback season with a 3.78 ERA and 1.27 WHIP after posting respective 5.62 and 1.53 marks over the past five years. Still, his average fastball velocity is way down to 88.5 mph, and he’s likely set to see tougher times moving forward, given his highlighted long-standing track record.

Of course, the elephant in the room is that New York superstar Aaron Judge (elbow) remains out, but I still like the Yankees to put runs on the board against Corbin.

Yankees vs Rangers same-game parlay analysis

New York shortstop Anthony Volpe is heating up and owns the platoon advantage against Corbin. Volpe is rolling along a 12-for-40 surge at the dish with nine runs, seven RBI, and an excellent 1.083 OPS across his past 11 games.

He’s also posted an above-average .357 wOBA, .198 ISO, and .833 OPS against southpaws for the campaign.

The final leg of this same-game parlay provides a nice manipulator to increase the odds. Rangers center fielder Sam Haggerty has hit lefties with an elite .354 average and an impressive .387 wOBA.
