The Los Angeles Dodgers' domination of the New York Yankees has continued, and they'll be aiming for a sweep tonight during primetime.

There should be at least some type of response from the Yankees after a humiliating loss last night. However, the two sides in this game are properly priced, and with two strong pitchers on the mound, I see a nice value in an early total bet.

My Dodgers vs. Yankees predictions are detailed here, as I bring you my Sunday Night Baseball MLB picks when the two teams meet on Sunday, June 1st.

Yankees vs Dodgers prediction for Sunday Night Baseball

My Yankees vs Dodgers best bet: F3 under 2.5 -110 (-110 at Caesars)

It's no surprise that the total has climbed a full run since opening after the offensive outbursts in the first two games of this series. Both matchups saw early runs, with both games soaring Over the total. Bettors have noticed and eagerly jumped on the primetime Over.

However, I'm skeptical of that sentiment.

There's strong evidence suggesting regression from both offenses tonight, primarily due to the pitchers on the mound. I also favor the situational edge of backing the Los Angeles Dodgers' bats to be quieted for two reasons: they just erupted for 18 runs yesterday, and the New York Yankees will be motivated to avoid a sweep.

Historical trends strongly suggest that lower-scoring games are more prevalent in these scenarios. Since 2020, Yankees road games after a loss are 73-56 to the Under, with an even stronger lead to the Under in the second or third game of a series. This angle, paired with the pitching matchup, bolsters my confidence.

The best value lies in focusing on the first time through the order for both hurlers. I'm taking the first three innings to go Under 2.5 runs for today's best bet.

Backing Dodgers' young star pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto for this portion of the game is straightforward: he excels in these spots. Among starters with at least 20 innings this season, the right-hander ranks fourth in ERA, 11th in batting average against, and third in expected FIP the first time through the order.

His pitch mix, less favorable for power hitters like Aaron Judge or Cody Bellinger, adds confidence he'll keep things quiet early.

On the other hand, Ryan Yarbrough has been average early in games, but we like him for a different reason: he's currently in form, and the matchup is solid.

In May, Yarbrough posted season lows in ERA, hits allowed, and, crucially, hard-hit rate. This gives confidence he'll deliver a composed first few innings, especially since he's been nearly unhittable early in games. Moreover, his pitch mix poses a challenge to Dodger hitters.

The Dodgers' offense dips against left-handers, with their hard-hit, barrel-driven approach expected to at least struggle some against a pitcher in the 99th percentile for hard-hit rate allowed and just behind in barrel rate.

Yarbrough's reliance on sinker and sweeper pitches is advantageous, as six Dodgers in the lineup have negative run values against at least one of these pitches.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Yankees vs Dodgers same-game parlay (SGP)

Shohei Ohtani over 1.5 bases

Ben Rice over 0.5 bases

Oswald Peraza over 0.5 bases

While I like how Yarbrough fares against the Dodgers' lineup as a collective, Shohei Ohtani presents an issue, as he typically does.

Ohtani leads the Dodgers in expected batting average, actual batting average, and hard-hit rate against his two primary pitches. Given how he's performed this series, that's an easy addition to this same-game parlay.

The other two additions are primary strength-on-strength bets. Oswald Peraza to record a base at -110 was nearly my best bet on this game altogether. He's been a nice unexpected boost for the Yankees' lineup and dominates the go-to pitch for Yamamoto in the split finger with a .386 average against it.

Not to be outdone is Ben Rice, hitting nearly .300 against such pitches with an expected number that's slightly higher. We'll take the pair to get knocks.
