My best bet

My analysis
Since the number opened early this morning, there's been one-way action towards the Under, moving about 20 cents in that direction. It's for good reason, as this is a very impressive pitching matchup against two hurlers who have been super strong lately.
I'm rolling with the Under 8.5 as my best bet. My projections made this number 7.7, so I'll take the slight edge here against the number.
Luis Gil has been quite a revelation for the New York Yankees. The young hurler, who wouldn't even be in this spot if it weren't for injuries, has spent the last month or so doing his best Cy Young impression. In his previous five starts, Gil has recorded five wins and posted a 0.40 ERA. It doesn't get better than that.
Of course, there will be some regression at some point, but for now, Gil remains a strong pitcher to back. His presence in this game is one of the main reasons I like the Under as the matchup is strong.
Gil has done an incredible job of neutralizing teams who hit the ball hard with a hard-hit rate in the Top 5% of the league. He most recently did this against the Baltimore Orioles when he held them scoreless over 6 1/3 innings. Surprisingly, the Los Angeles Angels have a lot of similar swing profile metrics like solid contact rate and launch angle. I will back Gil to do something close to this once again until proven differently.
I like the matchup for Tyler Anderson against New York, too. Anderson is not a pitcher who will give up a bunch of hard contact, which is a massive plus for him. Additionally, the Yankees' splits against lefties, especially on the road, are a departure from how well they've hit righties.
Give me the Under tonight in a game where the total is too high.

He's gone Under this number in every matchup against the Bottom 10 teams in swing rate. His most recent came against the Tampa Bay Rays, where he posted three. L.A. has the fourth-lowest swing rate in baseball, and this trend has proven solid enough for me to give it some credence here.
