It’s the rubber match in the three-game series between American League Central rivals the Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Twins.

The basement-dwelling Twins came out swinging and took the opener before the Pale Hose responded by getting the win in Game 2. Now, the finale should be a doozy, as a pair of big right-handers face off when Lance Lynn toes the rubber against Michael Pineda.

White Sox vs Twins betting preview

Starting pitchers

Lance Lynn (8-3, 2.02 ERA): Lynn sure has loved his first season on the South Side. Lynn has a 1.03 WHIP to go along that impressive ERA and is limiting opponents to a .190 batting average.

Michael Pineda (3-4, 3.70 ERA): Pineda is making his first start since June 13 thanks to some forearm inflammation, but the right-hander was pitching fairly well prior to the injury, allowing three earned runs or fewer in six of his last seven starts.

Moneyline pick

For a moment, the Twins reversed their fortunes against the White Sox. But that was short-lived after Tuesday night’s 4-1 loss. The defeat dropped the Twins to 35-49 for the season, and they are now 2-9 against the White Sox in 2021, getting outscored by 39 runs in the process.

Things won’t get any easier in this matinee matchup on Wednesday, going up against Lynn. The right-hander has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the American League this season. On top of the fantastic standard numbers, he ranks in the top eighth percentile in the MLB in expected ERA and expected opponent batting average.

Lynn has also been a part of the White Sox’s domination of the Twins this season. He has allowed just two earned runs on seven hits while striking out 11 in 11 innings of work over two starts against Minnesota.

While Pineda has been solid for the Twins this season, this will be his first start coming off an injury and he had pitched no more than 4 1-3 innings in his last three starts. If Pineda can’t go long in this one, he hands the ball to a Twins bullpen that ranks 26th in ERA and 27th in opponent batting average.

At this price, the White Sox are a good bet.

PREDICTION: White Sox -125

Over/Under pick

The Twins may have a capable offense, but it just hasn’t been enough when facing the White Sox. They're averaging 4.18 runs in their 11 meetings this season and they would be lucky to get that many off Lynn in this one.

As noted, Lynn has allowed just two earned runs against the Twins in 11 innings against them and he has allowed two earned runs or fewer in 12 of his 15 starts this season, with the Under going 8-5-2 in those games.

Pineda, on the other hand, hasn’t been dominant like Lynn but has been solid thanks mostly to keeping runners off the base paths. Opponents are hitting .230 against Pineda this season and he also owns a respectable 1.14 WHIP. That includes allowing three runs on four hits in 5 1-3 innings against the White Sox back on May 13.

This number is just high enough to have us thinking it slips Under.

PREDICTION: Under 8.5 (-110)
