The Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Guardians wrap up a three-game divisional series at Progressive Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The White Sox doubled up the Guardians by a 4-2 score on Tuesday in the middle game behind RHP Dylan Cease, who had a rare solid outing on the road.

The Guardians were unable to carry over the momentum from Monday’s 3-0 series opening victory, and the offense continues to struggle plating runs.

Can the White Sox pick up a win Wednesday afternoon for the series victory, or will the Guardians triumph in the rubber game? We’ll discuss in our MLB picks and predictions for White Sox vs. Guardians on Wednesday, May 24.

White Sox vs Guardians predictions

The White Sox fell behind 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning Tuesday, and they headed to the top of the seventh inning in a 2-1 hole. However, the White Sox got to the Guardians bullpen in the seventh for the three difference-making runs.

Like Cleveland, the Chicago offense has been a little erratic lately. Chicago has posted just 17 runs across the past six games, or an average of 2.8 runs per game. The pitching has been doing its part, allowing just 2.1 RPG across the past 10 outings. The Under is on a 6-0 run for the Pale Hose.

As mentioned, the Guardians are having a power outage at the plate lately, too, totaling just six runs across the past three outings, while also yielding just six runs in the span. It’s no surprise the Under has cashed in each of those contests.

Cleveland just hasn’t been able to stack wins, winning only two of its past eight games overall, including a 2-3 mark in the past five tries against Chicago.

The Guardians could get well against White Sox RHP Michael Kopech, who is 2-4 with a 4.83 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP across 50 1/3 innings over nine starts. He also has a dismal 5.73 ERA in four road starts across 22 innings.

Cleveland turns to RHP Cal Quantrill, who has a respectable 2-2 record, 4.06 ERA, and 1.31 WHIP in nine starts across 51 frames. While he is 1-2 with a 4.64 ERA in four home starts, he has allowed just two homers in 21 1/3 innings at Progressive Field.

Cleveland should be able to piece things together for the series win, and the wind will be blowing in from 9-12 mph from straightaway center field to keep the scoring down yet again.

White Sox vs Guardians moneyline analysis

The White Sox have managed a 4-1 record across the past five games inside the American League Central, and they’re looking for a second consecutive series victory against the Guardians after taking two of three on the south side from May 16-18.

However, Chicago lost 3-1 in the series finale against the Guardians on May 18, and the White Sox are a dismal 8-20 in the past 28 in Game 3 of a series. In addition, the White Sox are just 4-13 in their past 17 games on the road.

The Guardians will be glad to face Kopech, who has been very giving on the road this season. The Guardians are 4-1 in the past five games at home against a right-handed starting pitcher.

In addition, Cleveland has posted a respectable 17-6 record in its past 23 in Game 3 of a series, which is quite the opposite of Chicago. Roll with the Guards at home in the finale.

White Sox vs Guardians Over/Under analysis

The White Sox have cashed the Under in six consecutive games, although there is a little concern with Kopech on the bump. He has served up 12 homers in just 50 1/3 innings across nine starts this season.

Kopech should benefit from a strong wind blowing in from Lake Erie, gusting at 9-12 mph from straightaway center field right into the face of the batters, helping to keep scores down.

The Under has cashed at an 11-2-1 clip in the Guardians’ past 14 games against AL Central foes, while going 19-6-2 in the past 27 home games. Cleveland has also cashed the Under at an impressive 8-0 run in the past eight in Game 3 of a series.

Both of these teams are struggling with the bats, and we’ll see another Under result. Go low on the total while playing Cleveland on the moneyline for a solid parlay opportunity, too.
