The Kansas City Royals are in the Windy City this evening to face the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Coverage begins at 8:05 p.m. ET on FanDuel Sports Network (Kansas City) and Marquee.
My Royals vs. Cubs predictions and MLB picks for Tuesday, July 22 believe Matthew Boyd will pick up where he left off in his first start following the All-Star break.
Royals vs Cubs prediction
My Royals vs Cubs best bet: Matthew Boyd Under 1.5 earned runs (+105 at DraftKings)
The Chicago Cubs are rolling and look like a legitimate contender in the National League. While their offense is the clear bright spot, they also have a solid rotation, and Matthew Boyd has been one of their key arms.
The southpaw has a 10-3 record, 2.34 ERA, and 102 Ks in 111 2/3 innings.
Boyd had a stellar 1.78 ERA in June, and he’s carried that brilliance into July, posting a 0.90 ERA across three starts. The hurler had cashed the Under in earned runs allowed in all of those appearances, and he even threw eight shutout innings against the New York Yankees in his last start before the All-Star Game festivities.
Boyd’s numbers at Wrigley are even more incredible, sporting a 2.21 ERA with a perfect 8-0 record. The veteran simply doesn’t lose when he’s pitching in front of the Chicago faithful.
He'll make quick work of the Kansas City Royals tonight.
Royals vs Cubs same-game parlay (SGP)
Bobby Witt Jr. would be winning an AL MVP if Aaron Judge weren’t in the same league. The youngster is one of the best all-around players in the majors, and he’s showing his brilliance again in 2025 with a .288 average, 14 home runs, and 56 RBI.
He’s also cashed the Over in hits in five of his last six contests. The shortstop rarely goes hitless, and he's also hitting .351 against left-handed hurlers.
The last part of my SGP is a bit risky, but I’m mostly focusing on Kyle Tucker’s success against Rich Hill, who the Royals will call up to start tonight’s contest.
Hill, who is well over 40 now, gets another chance in the big leagues with K.C., and he’ll be up against a phenomenal Chicago lineup.
Tucker is the one hitter he won’t want to face, as he’s 4-for-7 lifetime in this matchup.
