The 2026 Boston Red Sox nightmare rolls on tonight with a trip to the Detroit Tigers, and the visitors will be hard-pressed to turn the corner at Comerica Park.
At 13-21, Boston is rock bottom in the AL East, and my Red Sox vs Tigers predictions signal home cooking for Detroit, even with the hosts pivoting to a bullpen game here.
Read on for my free MLB picks for Monday, May 4.
Who will win Red Sox vs Tigers today: Tigers (-191)
The Detroit Tigers have issues to resolve on the road, but they’ve been a different animal at Comerica Park through the first six weeks of the season. Boasting a 12-3 mark at home, Detroit is understandably favored here against a Boston Red Sox squad that’s lost four of its past five contests.
The Tigers are shifting to Plan B after the news that Tarik Skubal will need elbow surgery, but I'm still riding with their bullpen arms against an out-of-sync Boston lineup.
The jury is still out on inexperienced Red Sox starter Payton Tolle, and Detroit is coming off an impressive 7-1 win over the Texas Rangers yesterday.

Red Sox vs Tigers Over/Under pick: Under 7 (-120)
The Under has hit in five of Detroit’s last six games, and I’m going back to the well again today and picking a low-scoring battle, especially as Boston has scored just eight runs across its past five contests.
Though Tolle is a bit of a wildcard, having logged five career starts, he’s only allowed six hits in his two 2026 outings. Meanwhile, the Red Sox won't find an easy rhythm at the plate against a barrage of Tigers relievers.
It's also worth noting that the Under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these teams.
