Red Sox vs Giants Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today’s MLB Game

As both teams struggle to produce a high-level of offense, expect a low-scoring day from the Boston Red Sox and San Francisco Giants going for round two at Oracle Park.

The Boston Red Sox have been one of the best teams in baseball over the past couple weeks with 10 wins in their last 12 games and will look to keep it rolling against the San Francisco Giants as they contest their second meeting of a three-game set.

Both teams have been playing low-scoring baseball and I’ll explain why I’m expecting that trend to hold this afternoon in my Red Sox vs. Giants predictions and MLB picks for Saturday, June 21.

Red Sox vs Giants prediction

My Red Sox vs Giants best bet: Under 8 (-120 at bet365)

The Boston Red Sox stayed hot in the series opener with a 7-5 win against the San Francisco Giants on Friday night – a rare high-scoring battle for both clubs.

Boston has cashed the Under in seven of its last nine games while the Under is also 3-1-1 in San Francisco’s last five outings. With both clubs struggling to produce much offense and a decent pitching matchup on the mound, I’m taking Under 8 runs this afternoon as my best bet.

The Giants are averaging a subpar 3.33 runs per game over their last six contests while the Red Sox bats have somehow been even worse during their hot streak, scoring exactly 3 runs per game through their last nine.

Pitching has obviously been a key part of Boston’s recent run and starter Brayan Bello will look to keep that trend going today. The right-hander had his best outing of the season last Sunday against the Yankees as he pitched seven scoreless innings while scattering three hits and striking out eight.

Bello has allowed more than three earned runs just once in 11 starts this season and he’ll be backed up by a solid Boston bullpen that carries a collective 3.40 ERA – the fifth-best mark in the American League.

Giants starter Landen Roupp ironically had his worst start of the year last Saturday when he lasted just 1 2/3 innings against the Dodgers after giving up six earned runs. The right-hander has generally been reliable, though, as he allowed a total of eight earned over seven starts prior to last Saturday’s debacle.

Red Sox vs Giants same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 8

Red Sox moneyline

Willy Adames 1+ strikeouts

The Red Sox have barely mustered any offense over their last nine outings yet have managed to win eight of those contests as they’ve given up a stingy 2.44 runs per game. Boston opened as the slight underdog at +117 but I think they’ll be able to pick up another low-scoring win if Bello returns to form.

Willy Adames is tied for the seventh-most strikeouts in the AL with 84 Ks this season. The Giants shortstop has gone down swinging at least once in 18 of his last 22 games – a pretty safe bet to close out today’s SGP.
