Red Sox vs Brewers Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today’s MLB Game

Garrett Crochet has been one of baseball's stingiest starters this season and the Red Sox ace will limit the damage yet again against the Brewers. But Boston's bats may not fare so well, either, and we're taking the Under.

Two teams that seem to be stuck in neutral in their respective divisions open a three-game set today when the Boston Red Sox visit the Milwaukee Brewers.

Despite both these teams ranking in the top half of scoring, our Red Sox vs. Brewers predictions think the pitching matchup keeps this one a low-scoring affair.

I explain further with my full MLB picks for this Monday, May 26 clash

Red Sox vs Brewers prediction

My Red Sox vs Brewers best bet: Under 7.5 (-115 at Caesars)

After scoring 25 runs to win the first two games of their 4-game series with the Orioles, the Boston Red Sox ended the series on a whimper, plating two total runs in the final two losses.

That includes Sunday's 5-1 loss, dropping Boston to one game below .500 at 27-28, 6.5 games back of the Yankees in the East.

They might not need too many runs today, though, as lefty Garrett Crochet has been excellent, going 2-1 over his last five starts, and his 1.98 ERA is seventh-best in baseball.

Last time out, Crochet went 5 1/3 innings, scattering five hits while allowing one earned run and striking out five against the Mets.

Crochet has allowed two runs or fewer in five straight starts and has at least six strikeouts in four of those five.

The Milwaukee Brewers come into this one with a 6-5 win over Pittsburgh. The Brewers moved to 26-28, 6.5 behind the division-leading Chicago Cubs.

They are putting up 4.30 runs per game (13th), and offense hasn’t been much of an issue, with the Brewers scoring five or more in seven of their last eight outings.

Righty Chad Patrick will pitch in the opener, looking to improve on his 2-4 record and 3.23 ERA.

He’s coming off one of his best starts of the season, surrendering one earned run and four hits while fanning seven in 4 2/3 innings of work vs. Baltimore Baltimore.

These teams have split the last 10 head-to-head matchups with no team able to string together more than two wins in a row.

One constant has been the total, which has gone Under in three straight meetings and seven of the last 10.

The pitching matchup has us leaning into that trend again.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Red Sox vs Brewers same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 7.5

Garrett Crochet Over 6.5 strikeouts

Rhys Hoskins Over 0.5 hits

Let’s stick with Crochet as he’s in his best groove, with an appealing 6.5 strikeout line. He’s recorded at least seven strikeouts in six of his last 10 outings, missing on covering on two other occasions by a single K.

While with the White Sox last season, Crochet faced the Brewers and was solid, pitching six solid innings, giving up just five hits, one earned run while striking out eight.

One Milwaukee batter who might have some success is Rhys Hoskins.

The first baseman picked up a hit in the win Sunday, and he’s picked up at least one hit in eight of his last 11 games.

Hoskins is hitting a solid .277 against lefties on the season and has one hit in three career at-bats vs. Crochet.
