Brandon Lowe has been a demon at the dish of late, especially on the road. He has piled up multiple total bases in eight of his last 10 away games.

My Rays vs. Giants predictions see Lowe’s success at the plate continuing against struggling right-hander Justin Verlander. Let’s break it all down with my August 16 MLB picks.

Rays vs Giants prediction

Rays vs Giants best bet: Brandon Lowe Over 1.5 total bases (-120)

Brandon Lowe is scorching hot. He’s recorded multiple total bases in seven of his past nine games, averaging 2.7 in that span.

While he finished hitless in the series opener against the San Francisco Giants, he has a great matchup to get back on track against Justin Verlander.

The veteran righty has probably hung onto his playing career too long. He has earned just one winning decision through 20 starts and owns a highly underwhelming 4.53 ERA.

Verlander has fared worst against left-handed bats like Lowe. He’s allowed a .292 average on the season and a 1.7 WHIP.

He’s had a miserable time trying to slow down lefties, which is not ideal given the form Lowe is in right now.

Not to mention, the fastball is by far Verlander’s most used tool against left-handed bats. Lowe has torched that pitch all season when facing righties, sporting a .301 average, .424 wOBA, and .315 ISO.

After a quiet performance Friday night, Lowe is a great candidate to rebound quickly.

Rays vs Giants same-game parlay (SGP)

Brandon Lowe Over 1.5 total bases

Josh Lowe Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI

Rafael Devers Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI

We’re going to double down with the Lowe's and back Josh Lowe as well. He is another lefty bad, and he’s been much more productive on the road this season, clearing this line in 56% of away games compared to just 36% at home.

Adrian Houser has allowed a noticeably worse average and ISO .100 points higher against left-handed bats.

Conversely, Rafael Devers has performed a lot better against right-handed pitching. He’s also making very good contact right now, sporting a 28% barrel rate over his last 25 at-bats vs. righties.
