The San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates will continue a three-game series tonight.

Pittsburgh took care of business on the road last night, and they have a good chance of hanging around tonight.

My Pirates vs Giants predictions break it all down as I bring you my MLB picks for Tuesday, July 29.

Pirates vs Giants prediction

My Pirates vs Giants best bet: Pirates F5 +0.5 (-115 at FanDuel)

I’m out on Justin Verlander for the duration of the regular season.

Could the San Francisco Giants right-hander gear it up for a few postseason starts and potentially turn back the clock? Most definitely.

However, Verlander's a pretty firm fade for me for the rest of the year outside of that.

The 41-year-old enters tonight with pretty pedestrian metrics across the board. His strikeout rate of 18% is a career low, and he’s not creating nearly enough swings and misses.

Much like the Colorado Rockies, the Pittsburgh Pirates rank in the bottom five of baseball in virtually any strikeout metric you can find. However, take that away, and even an anemic offense can be effective.

Specifically, Verlander’s bottom-20% barrel rate could be attacked. Oneil Cruz, Bryan Reynolds, and Andrew McCutchen all boast barrel rates in the top 20% of the sport, and that group can lead the way for this bet to cash.

Meanwhile, Pirates lefty Bailey Falter has delivered a quality start in seven of his last eight outings, several of which have come against multiple quality offenses.

Pirates vs Giants same-game parlay (SGP)

Pirates F5 +0.5

Oneil Cruz Over 0.5 runs

Andrew McCutchen Over 0.5 RBI

Keeping in line with our viewpoint that the Pirates will exploit Verlander’s weak barrel metrics, we’ve targeted two Pittsburgh players to do that in a straightforward view:

Cruz gets on base and McCutchen drives him in.
