Mariners vs Mets Prediction, Picks & Odds — Sunday Night Baseball, August 17

Clay Holmes has come back down to earth, and the Mariners are in a great spot to make his night miserable tonight. With George Kirby on the mound, a few early runs might be all Seattle needs vs. the Mets.

Mariners vs Mets best bet analysis

The Seattle Mariners pack more punch at the dish away from pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park, and the added workload is catching up to New York Mets starter Clay Holmes.

Seattle ranks second in wOBA on the highway this season, and Holmes has posted a 5.79 ERA, 1.65 WHIP across his past seven starts. He topped out at just 70 innings as a reliever in 2021 and is up to 126 already across his 24 starts this season.

Additionally, the Mariners are countering with rolling righty George Kirby, and he’s trending in the exact opposite direction with a tidy 2.83 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 3.06 xFIP across 13 starts since the calendar flipped to June.

While the Mets have an excellent heart of the lineup, Kirby will hold them in check enough, while the Mariners give Holmes trouble early.

The New York bullpen has had hiccups of late, too, with the Mets sporting a 22nd-ranked 4.56 ERA and 4.41 xFIP over the past two weeks.

Mariners vs Mets same-game parlay analysis

Mariners slugger Cal Raleigh continues to show off and has cleared this total in six of his past 10 games while going 9-for-35 at the dish with eight runs and 12 RBI. He’s posted a solid .374 wOBA, .321 ISO, and .904 OPS against right-handed pitchers for the season, and as noted, Holmes and the New York bullpen have struggled.

Mets star Juan Soto is a proven hitter against righties, with an elite .413 wOBA, .270 ISO, and .981 OPS over the past three years. He's also sporting a nine-game hit streak with 10 runs and eight RBI, clearing this total in all eight.
