Eugenio Suarez
Eugenio Suarez has been a power machine this season. Between time with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Seattle Mariners, he’s smacked 40 home runs in total. The veteran will face Dylan Cease tonight, a familiar foe from the National League West.
Suarez is 4-for-11 in his career against Cease with two homers. He’s gone deep twice in his last five games and has four long balls overall in the month of August. Cease has allowed 19 bombs this season in 26 starts and tends to get hit around at times.
Also, Suarez has left the yard 29 times against right-handed hurlers and has 26 round-trippers at home.
Aaron Judge
Aaron Judge has been struggling a bit since returning from the IL, but he’s still batting .323 with 40 homers. The last time Judge went deep was exactly a week ago, against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Tonight could be the next one he puts in the bleachers as the New York Yankees face the Washington Nationals.
The Nats send Mackenzie Gore to the hill, and although Judge hasn’t gone up against him a lot, the small sample size is ridiculously impressive. The reigning AL MVP is 3-for-5 with two home runs and six RBIs. He’s been a nightmare for Gore to deal with.
The outfielder has 11 homers off left-handed hurlers and has left the yard 18 times at Yankee Stadium this season. He could smack No. 41 tonight.
Cal Raleigh
Cal Raleigh just made history the other night as he set a single-season record for home runs by a catcher, smacking No. 48 and No. 49.
Well, Raleigh followed that up with yet another bomb on Monday against the San Diego Padres to make hit the 50-bomb mark, and I’m eyeing him to make it three games in a row.
While he’s never faced Cease before, Raleigh is simply red-hot right now and continues to ride a high. He has eight round-trippers in August so far, and as previously mentioned, Cease does have issues with the long ball at times.
30 of Raleigh’s bombs are off righties and he’s been just as consistent with his power at home, smacking 25 home runs.
