HR picks for June 24
Cal Raleigh (+205 at DraftKings)
Cal Raleigh is doing remarkable things for the Seattle Mariners. He’s taken over the MLB lead in home runs with 32, surpassing Johnny Bench for the most bombs by a catcher before the All-Star break.
Raleigh has gone deep in four consecutive games, even smacking two bombs over the weekend in a matchup with the Cubs. He has a whopping 10 homers in June alone.
Tonight, he’ll face Minnesota Twins starter Chris Paddack, who has allowed 11 long balls in 15 starts. In six at-bats, Raleigh has just one hit against Paddack — and, of course, it was a dinger.
Alec Burleson (+340 at DraftKings)
The St. Louis Cardinals have been a pleasant surprise this season, and one of the players leading the way is Alec Burleson, who is batting .307 with nine home runs and 32 RBI.
Tonight’s clash plays in Burleson’s favor from a power standpoint. He’ll face Jameson Taillon, who has given up an MLB-high 18 home runs. Burleson is 6-for-15 lifetime against him with two long balls. The 28-year-old smacked a homer on Monday versus the Chicago Cubs, sporting three bombs in his last five appearances.
He’s collected five home runs at home, and seven of the nine are off right-handers. A lot is going in Burleson’s favor as he looks to help the Cards grab a win over a divisional rival.
Max Muncy (+260 at DraftKings)
Max Muncy’s home run numbers are down this season, but everyone knows what he’s capable of with a bat in his hands. He went deep 36 times just two seasons ago.
The Los Angeles Dodgers face the Colorado Rockies, and they hand the struggling German Marquez the ball. He has a brutal 6.11 ERA, allowing seven homers in 15 starts. Muncy is 7-for-32 lifetime against the right-hander, but four of those hits are bombs.
Ten of his 11 homers are off right-handed pitchers, and Muncy just left the yard twice on Sunday in a big 13-7 win over the Nationals. He’ll stay hot tonight and add to Marquez’s misery.
