HR Prop #1: Pete Alonso
Pete Alonso is smashing baseballs right now. He’s just smacked home runs No. 30 and 31 across the last two games.
The veteran actually has five hits across his previous two appearances, too. Alonso is hot, and tonight’s matchup heavily plays in his favor.
The New York Mets will be looking to keep it rolling after scoring 19 runs on Friday against the Miami Marlins. They will send Edward Cabrera to the hill, and Alonso is 3-for-14 versus him with three long balls.
Alonso is hitting .306 in August and has nine home runs this month. A third straight game with a round-tripper may feel like a long shot, but we’re talking about Polar Bear Pete here.
HR Prop #2: Jeremy Pena
Jeremy Pena is having a great season for the Houston Astros. The 27-year-old is hitting .308, and he’s also left the yard 14 times.
While Pena isn’t an elite power hitter, he has pop in his bat. The infielder is up against Kyle Hendricks tonight, who has allowed 21 homers in 25 starts.
The Dominican is 2-for-5 lifetime against Hendricks with a home run. He’s also gone deep 10 times off right-handed hurlers. Hendricks does not have overpowering stuff, and one mistake can turn into a long, long home run.
Although Pena has just three bombs this month, he’s on a roll at the moment, with three multi-hit games across his last five. His last home run was on August 22. He may just go deep again.
HR Prop #3: Teoscar Hernandez
Teoscar Hernandez is still one of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ best hitters. Even though he’s hitting only .247, Hernandez has 21 home runs and 77 RBI.
The slugger has destroyed Eduardo Rodriguez in the past, who will be tasked with keeping the mighty Dodgers at bay this evening.
Hernandez is 10-for-23 lifetime with three doubles, one triple, and three homers in this matchup. He’s cracked six round-trippers off left-handed hurlers, and E-Rod has serious issues with the long ball, surrendering 21 of them in 23 appearances.
Don’t be surprised if Hernandez barrels one up in this NL West clash.
