The Los Angeles Dodgers aim to snap a three-game losing skid as they host the rival San Francisco Giants tonight.

The Boys in Blue have a substantial starting pitching edge with Yoshinobu Yamamoto dueling Adrian Houser.

Below, I explain why I'm backing LA to break its losing streak with my Giants vs. Dodgers predictions and MLB picks for Tuesday, May 12.

Who will win Giants vs Dodgers today: Dodgers (-290)

This is one of the bigger starting pitcher discrepancies you’ll see in an MLB game this season.

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto continues to be his effective self, throwing at least six innings in six of his seven starts while allowing no more than three earned runs in any of those.

He’s dominated this San Francisco Giants lineup, holding them to a .532 OPS with 34 strikeouts in 105 career at-bats.

Adrian Houser (6.19 ERA) has been a mess. He pitches to contact with an 11.4% K rate, yet allows the bad kind (.295 xBA due to a 15th percentile average exit velocity). Consider the Dodgers run line if the ML is too steep.

Covers COVERS INTEL: In addition to a third-percentile strikeout rate, Houser's 19.3% whiff rate ranks in the 13th percentile. That won't play against a Dodgers offense that strikes out at the eighth-lowest rate.

Giants vs Dodgers Over/Under pick: Under 8.5 (+100)

Four of the last five contests between these two rivals have resulted in the Under.

Yamamoto has dominated this lineup in the past, and he will probably do so again as the Giants have a lowly 87 wRC+ and .293 wOBA against right-handed pitching. The Dodgers are 2-4 O/U in Yamamoto’s last six starts.

L.A.’s star-studded lineup is in a noted cold stretch, posting a 91 wRC+ over the last 15 days. Dave Roberts’ squad is averaging 2.5 runs in its last four games, so while they’ll likely plate several against Houser, their poor recent performance doesn’t inspire confidence for a blow-up spot.
