The Milwaukee Brewers welcome the Los Angeles Dodgers to American Family Field for the opener of a three-game series on Monday, July 7.

It’s a compelling pitching matchup between Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Brewers veteran Freddy Peralta, but my Dodgers vs. Brewers predictions and MLB picks lean toward L.A.'s offense taking advantage of Peralta in the series opener.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Dodgers vs Brewers same-game parlay (SGP)

Dodgers -1.5

Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI

Christian Yelich Over 0.5 hits

The Los Angeles Dodgers lineup is far more dangerous than the cast of characters the Milwaukee Brewers send to the dish, with the Boys in Blue ranking second in wOBA and OPS against right-handed arms and the Brew Crew checking in at 24th in each.

Additionally, while the pitching matchup between Los Angeles righty Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Milwaukee veteran Freddy Peralta is tight on the surface, Peralta’s underlying metrics suggest statistical correction looms.

Perala’s 4.02 xFIP is way above his 2.91 ERA, and I don’t anticipate him limiting opposing hitters to a minuscule .244 BABIP while also stranding runners at an 83.5% clip much longer.

Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman is a prime candidate to tee off on Peralta, too. He's shown off an elite .401 wOBA, .196 ISO, and .940 OPS against righties this season, while racking up a healthy 45 runs, 90 hits, and 47 RBI across 78 games.

Turning to the final leg of this SGP, Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is having an excellent season against righties with a .381 wOBA, .253 ISO, and .894 OPS. He’s also dialed in at the dish with a 26-for-72 stretch (.361 batting average) and at least one hit in 17 of his past 18 contests.

My Dodgers vs Brewers best bet: Dodgers -1.5 (+122 at Caesars)

Returning to the pitching matchup at American Family Field, Yamamoto’s numbers jump off the page, with his 2.51 ERA and 1.01 WHIP reinforced by a tidy 3.03 xFIP and 2.82 xERA.

Interestingly, Yamamoto has also been much better on the highway with a 1.57 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, and 2.58 xFIP, while holding opposing hitters to a pedestrian .166 batting average and .221 wOBA.

With Milwaukee sending the highlighted poor lineup to the dish against righties, I expect Yamamoto to hold the Brewers in check while the Los Angeles bats do the heavy lifting to cover the run line tonight.
