Dodgers vs Brewers Home Run Picks & Best Bets for NLCS Game 1

Even though the Brewers haven't named a SP for Game 1, Freddie Freeman is one of the few batters who can still thrive no matter who toes the rubber. Therefore, he's our Dodgers pick to go deep tonight.

It took five games, but the Milwaukee Brewers outlasted the Chicago Cubs on Saturday night to advance to the NLCS. That series will begin in Los Angeles tonight after the Dodgers took down the Phillies in four games.

The Dodgers and Brewers have each hit seven home runs so far in the playoffs, and there are a few players worth looking at in Game 1.

My MLB player props and home run analysis for Monday, October 13, are looking at Freddie Freeman and William Contreras, as part of our Dodgers vs. Brewers predictions

Dodgers home run pick

Freddie Freeman (+525 at Caesars)

Freddie Freeman has had a slow start to the playoffs thus far. The Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman only has five hits in 23 at-bats (.217 average) with two doubles as his only extra-base hits.

Freeman played a big part in Los Angeles’ World Series championship last year, hitting four home runs while batting .250 in the postseason. He’s been a clutch player in the playoffs for both Atlanta and Los Angeles, with 14 home runs in 68 games — a 162-game pace of 33 home runs.

The Dodgers are starting this series on the road, but that won’t be an issue for Freeman. He hit 15 of his 24 home runs away from Chavez Ravine this season, good for a .532 slugging percentage and .900 OPS. In fact, he hit a home run every 18.93 at-bats on the road as opposed to 30.22 at home.

The Milwaukee Brewers have yet to name a starter for Game 1, and Freeman could see a lefty reliever out of the bullpen, but that won’t affect him much. He had a .500 SLG vs. RHP and .506 vs. LHP this season.

Brewers home run pick

William Contreras (+525 at Caesars)

Brewers catcher William Contreras is tied with Andrew Vaughn for the team lead in home runs this postseason with two. Contreras has also hit a double among his six knocks in 20 at-bats for a .300 average and .650 slugging percentage.

The Dodgers are going with Blake Snell on the mound in Game 1. Contreras is 1-for-3 with a double against the southpaw in his career,

The catcher bats in the middle of the Brewers' order, so he should get at least four or five plate appearances in Game 1.

Contreras hit a home run in Games 2 and 5 against the Cubs — both of which came off left-handed pitchers — and I’ll take him to stay hot here at +525.
