The Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers begin a three-game set at American Family Field tonight.

Chicago is the highest-scoring team in the majors, and my Cubs vs. Brewers predictions expect that trend to continue.

Here are my best free MLB picks for this NL Central showdown on Friday, May 2.

Cubs vs Brewers prediction

My Cubs vs Brewers best bet: Cubs team total Over 4.5 (-110 at bet365)

The Chicago Cubs lead the majors in scoring (6.0 runs per game) while ranking third in OPS (.799). That OPS that ticks up to .818 on the road, which is a good sign for them as they head to Wisconsin for this three-game set.

Quinn Priester will toe the rubber for the Milwaukee Brewers. The 24-year-old has a 3.79 ERA through four starts and is fresh off an ugly outing where he allowed five runs in five innings. His expected ERA (4.61) and expected batting average (.267) are in the bottom third of the majors.

Priester gives up a ton of contact and sits in the bottom 15th percentile in strikeout rate (15.3%) and walk rate (14.1%). He'll have a tough time navigating a Cubs lineup that strikes out at the fourth-lowest rate in the majors (19.8%) and walks at the fifth-highest rate (10%).

Milwaukee's bullpen has also been decimated by injuries, which has led to unreliable pitching towards the end of games. Their relievers are 27th in the majors in ERA (4.90) and 21st in OBA (.246).

Cubs vs Brewers same-game parlay (SGP)

Cubs team total Over 4.5

Brice Turang 1+ hits

Quinn Priester Over 1.5 walks

Chicago will have struggling sophomore Ben Brown and his 6.04 ERA on the hill. Brown is in the bottom 10th percentile in average exit velocity and the bottom 25th percentile in xBA (.273).

Brice Turang leads the Brewers in batting average (.311) and has picked up a hit in 25 of 31 games this season. He bats .333 when he has the platoon advantage against righties like Brown.

Priester has issued at least a pair of walks in all four of his starts this year and he has logged 3+ walks in his last three appearances. Meanwhile, the Cubs are fourth in the majors in walks per game (4.0).
