The Milwaukee Brewers host the St. Louis Cardinals in the third matchup of this four-game series at American Family Field. MLB odds list Milwaukee as a -120 favorite, while the total sits at 8.

My Cardinals vs. Brewers predictions target the Over in this spot based on the starting pitching matchup.

Read on for my MLB picks for Saturday, June 14.

Cardinals vs Brewers prediction

My Cardinals vs Brewers best bet: Over 8 (-120 at DraftKings)

Saturday presents a great sell-high opportunity for left-hander Jose Quintana, who takes the mound for the Milwaukee Brewers. He’s been solid on the surface this season, posting a 4-1 record with a 2.66 ERA through eight starts.

That said, his underlying metrics suggest regression is looming. Quintana possesses a 3.86 expected ERA (xERA) and ranks in the bottom half of the league in expected batting average (xBA), average exit velocity, strikeout rate and walk rate.

Meanwhile, right-hander Andre Pallante gets the ball for the St. Louis Cardinals. He’s struggled this season, posting a 4.75 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through 13 starts.

Like Quintana, Pallante’s analytics are poor. He ranks in the bottom third of the league in xERA, xBA, strikeout rate, and hard-hit rate.

Both starting pitchers are likely to struggle in this contest, which bodes well for Over bettors. Furthermore, both lineups rank in the Top 11 in runs scored per game.

Cardinals vs Brewers same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 8

William Contreras to record a hit

Rhys Hoskins to hit a home run

I'm targeting Milwaukee’s William Contreras and Rhys Hoskins to pester Pallante today.

Both have fared exceptionally well against the Cardinals SP, going a combined 5-for-14 against the right-hander with a .357 batting average and two home runs. Both players also enter this contest in good form.

Contreras has recorded six hits over his past seven games, while Hoskins homered just a few days ago against Atlanta. He has also previously homered against Pallante.
