Brewers vs Cubs player prop picks
Prop #1: Jameson Taillon Under 2.5 strikeouts
Right-hander Jameson Taillon takes the mound for the Chicago Cubs and should serve as a good fade candidate in the strikeout market. This season, Taillon ranked in the 16th percentile in whiff rate and the 22nd percentile in strikeout rate.
Furthermore, Taillon is likely to be on an especially short leash due to Wednesday being an elimination game. Given that Milwaukee has thrived at scoring early in games, it wouldn’t be surprising if Taillon throws three or fewer innings in this matchup.
If that’s the case, it’s unlikely he records three or more strikeouts.
Prop #2: Jackson Chourio Over 1.5 total bases
Continuing the fade of Taillon, Milwaukee Brewer Jackson Chourio looks to continue his success against the right-hander. Through 13 plate appearances, Chourio is 7-for-13 with two doubles and a home run.
Chourio also boasts a .437 expected batting average (xBA) and a .587 expected slugging percentage (xSLG) over that stretch.
The Brewers’ leadoff hitter looks to continue his postseason dominance. Through 18 career playoff at-bats, Chourio owns a .556 batting average, 1.111 slugging percentage and 1.690 OPS.
Prop #3: Christian Yelich Over 1.5 total bases
Another Milwaukee hitter to consider backing is Christian Yelich. Like Chourio, Yelich has thrived against Taillon.
Through 41 plate appearances against the right-hander, Yelich sports a .351 batting average, .541 slugging percentage and .411 weighted on-base average (wOBA). Serving as the designated hitter, Yelich was excellent in Game 2, going 3-for-4 with three singles.
Lastly, he is averaging 1.6 total bases over his past 17 games.
