Brewers vs Cubs Game 3 predictions

Who will win Brewers vs Cubs Game 3

The Cubs haven’t shown much of a pulse through two games of the NLDS, while the Brewers have put 16 runs on the board in consecutive convincing wins. Milwaukee was the best team in the majors, so I like the Brewers as an underdog on Wednesday.

Brewers vs Cubs best bet

Brewers moneyline (+105)

The Milwaukee Brewers haven’t skipped a beat since finishing with a 41-25 second-half record and pacing the National League in runs per game (5.29).

This series shifting to Wrigley Field doesn’t move the needle enough for the Chicago Cubs to be the betting favorite, in my opinion, either.

Chicago has the highest strikeout percentage this postseason and has only scored 12 runs across five games. The Cubbies have relied on the long ball, too, with nine of those 12 runs coming from homers.

So, with the wind forecasted to be blowing in at Wrigley Field, I don't anticipate Brewers starter Quinn Priester and the Milwaukee bullpen serving up enough round trippers for the Chicago lineup to manufacture runs.

Priester has been solid this season with a 3.32 ERA and 3.81 xFIP, and he was arguably better on the road with a 6-1 record and respective 2.91 and 3.84 marks.

Finally, while I do have confidence in Cubs starter Jameson Taillon pitching well, I also have no doubt Milwaukee will find a way to pull ahead and stay there.

Brewers vs Cubs Game 3 same-game parlay (SGP)

Taillon was money down the stretch with a 1.57 ERA across his final six starts, and he also fanned 21 batters across 22 1/3 innings over his final four home appearances of the campaign.

The veteran righty was solid against the San Diego Padres in the wild-card round, too, fanning four across four scoreless frames. With the wind blowing in, he'll pitch deep enough into Game 3 to fan three or more Brewers.

Finally, Cubs first baseman Michael Busch posted a solid .272 batting average against righties during the regular season and sports a .313 mark through six playoff contests.

Busch is also 2-for-8 with a home run against Priester during his career.

Christian Yelich (+750)

Brewers veteran Christian Yelich has posted a solid .230 ISO with 25 of his 29 home runs coming against right-handed pitchers this season. He’s also 13-for-37 with a pair of long flies against Taillon during his career.

Brewers vs Cubs weather

The wind is always a factor at Wrigley Field, and it's blowing in today at over 12 mph, which goes a long way in explaining the low total of 6.5 for NLDS Game 3. There is no rain in the forecast on a 58-degree day on the North Side of Chicago.
