The Summer of George continues today as the Toronto Blue Jays look to sweep Baltimore.

Toronto's lead-off hitter has been a run-scoring machine this season, and I expect him to cross home plate again this afternoon against a porous O's side.

Blue Jays predictions for September 14

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Springing forward

Pick (-140 at BetVictor)

Death, taxes, and George Springer crossing home plate. The Toronto Blue Jays slugger has scored 97 times this season, including in 27 of his last 34 games.

Springer has a .451 OBP in that 34-game stretch. His ability to get on base — coupled with the Jays’ lineup hitting behind him — are the two main reasons why he scores so many runs.

Additionally, the Orioles are starting Albert Suarez as an “opener”. Springer has a .400 OBP  against Suarez in five plate appearances. Then the O’s will turn to the bullpen, which has been brutal this series, giving up nine runs in 5 2/3 innings.

As a unit, Orioles relievers own a 4.46 ERA, ranking 23rd in Major League Baseball. Moreover, Toronto boasts the best batting average in baseball, with a 114 WRC+, while averaging 4.9 runs per game.

I expect Springer to account for one of those runs this afternoon.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

George Springer Over 0.5 RBI

George Springer Over 2.5 total bases

Daulton Varsho Over 0.5 RBI

As mentioned previously, the Jays slugger has been on fire over the last six weeks, sporting a 1.114 OPS over his last 34 games, averaging 2.59 bases per game.

Daulton Varsho has eight RBI over his last 11 games, sporting a .942 OPS in that stretch. Considering the O’s have a right-handed heavy bullpen, Varsho’s .981 OPS against righties should work in his favor here.
