It’s a hot day in Baltimore, but not as hot as our Toronto Blue Jays predictions. We try to cash another best bet as the Jays play Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Orioles.

Toronto will attempt to bounce back after dropping the opener of this four-game set when they dig in against Charlie Morton on Tuesday afternoon, and my MLB picks like one Toronto slugger in particular to stay as hot as the temps in Baltimore today.

Blue Jays Game 1 predictions for July 29

Today’s Blue Jays Game 1 best bet: Vladdy stays red hot

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases (+120 at BetVictor)

The Toronto Blue Jays may have dropped the opener of this four-game series, but star slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. did his part to keep his team in the game.

Guerrero remained white hot last night, collecting another two hits and going deep for the second time in three games. Vladdy's now hitting .486 with a 1.396 OPS over his last nine games, including four doubles and three home runs. There’s no reason to think he’ll slow down this afternoon against Charlie Morton.

It has been a turbulent season for the 41-year-old right-hander. Every time it looks like he’s found a groove, it ends just as quickly.

For example, following a solid five-start stretch, Morton has surrendered 10 earned runs on 13 hits and seven walks over his past two starts. So, it’s no surprise his advanced numbers paint the picture of a well-below-average starter. Morton enters this game ranked in the 31st percentile among MLB pitchers in expected ERA.

Vladdy is also hitting .400 with two doubles in 15 career at-bats vs. Morton. Getting Vladdy Over 1.5 total bases, something he’s done in seven of his last nine games, at plus money when he’s locked in like this is silly. Keep giving it to me, and I’m going to keep betting it.

Today’s Blue Jays Game 1 same-game parlay (SGP)

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 RBI

Bo Bichette Over 1.5 total bases

Let’s start the SGP by adding Guerrero to drive in another run this afternoon. Vladdy has 10 RBI in his last nine games, recording at least one six times over that stretch.

And the only guy hotter than Vladdy in the Blue Jays lineup right now is Bo Bichette. The Toronto shortstop is in the middle of a 10-game hitting streak and has racked up a ridiculous 11 hits over his last three games alone.

Bichette also has solid numbers against Morton, going 5-for-18 with a double and a dinger.

It's not an interesting story. Seriously.
