NRFI/YRFI bets for June 6

Dodgers at Cardinals: YRFI (-116 at ProphetX)

So here’s a tasty YRFI to start: the St. Louis Cardinals currently have the longest run of games featuring a first-inning score at four, while the Los Angeles Dodgers lead all of baseball with seeing a YRFI 38.10% of the time.

Dodgers’ starter Justin Wrobleski has just one start on the year, and he was bombed by the Washington Nationals, tagging him for eight runs on eight hits in five innings, including two in the first.

Cardinals’ starter Sonny Gray has alternated between shutting teams down and getting lit up. He’s had three starts with no earned runs allowed, and sandwiched between those, he has three starters where he’s surrendered 14 total runs.

Regardless, over his last five starts, a first-inning run has plated in four of them. This has all the makings of another early-inning score.

Orioles at Athletics: YRFI  (-168 at ProphetX)

The Athletics haven’t been good at much this year, so kudos to them for owning a share of the second-longest YRFI streak in baseball at three.

They host the Baltimore Orioles Friday, and lefty JP Sears gets the call. Surprisingly, there’s only been one first-inning run scored in his last four starts, but the potential is there.

In those Sears’ four starts (three losses), the A's have surrendered at least eight runs in each.

Baltimore has had back-to-back NRFI games, but they’re even on the year, seeing a first-inning run score in 16 of 32 road games on the year.

Starter Dean Kremer is coming off a start where Baltimore spotted him a first-inning run, and perhaps they could do it Friday, as they are hitting a collective .321 against Spears.

Red Sox at Yankees: YRFI (-123 at ProphetX)

Are we pressing our luck betting on a third YRFI? Yes, we are, and we’re tagging one of baseball’s best rivalries — the Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees.

New York trails only the Dodgers in YRFI rate, occurring on a 37.7% clip.

Will Warren is on the bump for New York, and a first-inning run has been plated in each of his last two starts. Over those two, a total of seven runs were scored, just one by the Yankees.

Boston ranks middle of the pack with YRFI, at a 29.69% rate, but they’ve seen an opening inning run plate in 16 of their 31 road games on the year.

Walker Buehler has seen a run score in three of his last five outings, twice by the visitors, with his guys spotting him a run in the first in the other.
