NRFI/YRFI bets for June 13

Cardinals at Brewers: NRFI (Play at ProphetX)

The Milwaukee Brewers have been an NRFI blazer, ripping off eight straight games without allowing or scoring a first inning run.

Tonight they host the St. Louis Cardinals, a team with more YRFIs than NRFIs overall. However, 18 of the Cardinals' 33 road games have gone scoreless in inning No. 1 (55%).

Brewers’ starter Freddy Peralta has had just one first-inning run plate in his last seven starts. His opponent, righty Erick Fedde, has allowed no earned runs in three of his last six starts.

This will be the fifth meeting between these teams this season, and three of the first four have gone NRFI. There’s enough here to wager on another.

Pirates at Cubs: YRFI (Play at ProphetX)

In Milwaukee’s rearview in the NL Central are the Pittsburgh Pirates, who’ve run off five straight NRFI and will look to make it six on Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field vs. the Chicago Cubs.

Ace Paul Skenes is on the bump for the Pirates, and he’s been lights out over his last six starts, allowing one or fewer runs in each.

Not surprisingly, not a single run plated in the first inning in any of those starts.

But his greatness can’t do anything to prevent Cade Horton from getting lit up in the first inning. The rookie will face the Pirates for the first time in his seventh career start.

In Horton’s previous six outings, a first run has plated in five of those games, and just twice were they runs from his team.

In four meetings this season, a YRFI has cashed, both with Pittsburgh staking its starter with a run in the first inning. The same thing has the potential of happening here again.

Blue Jays at Phillies: YRFI (Play at ProphetX)

This is about as true a YFRI matchup as you can get, as the Toronto Blue Jays seek a fourth straight YRFI when they visit the Philadelphia Phillies.

Philadelphia is one of the premier YRFI teams in baseball, firing at the second-best rate in the majors (36.8%), trailing only the Yankees.

Toronto starter Kevin Gausman has seen plenty of early offensive action in his recent appearances, too. Since May 1, the Jays or their opponents have scored a run in six of Gausman’s last seven starts.

Lefty Ranger Suarez is on the bump for the Phillies, and he’s seen a first-inning run plate in each of his last two starts.

The Jays have had a YRFI in seven of their last 10 overall, while the Phillies have had a first inning run in six of their last 10 games as well as 19 times in 34 home games, a 56% clip.
