Jack Settleman, founder of Snapback Sports, turned a $100 parlay into $79,000 by betting five alternate unders on New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Key Takeaways

  • Settleman did not directly bet on Dart to get injured.

  • A portion of the winnings were apparently used to help cover funeral costs for a content creator who lost a child.

  • The Giants’ playoff odds have fallen with Dart’s health in question.

Dart, making his second start of his second season, went down clutching his knee in the first quarter of Monday’s matchup with the Super Bowl favorite Los Angeles Rams. A TV replay showed his leg moving in an unnatural whipping motion as he took simultaneous hits from Byron Young and Josaiah Stewart.

While Giants fans shielded their eyes, Settleman’s may have grown larger. He then said on X that he was about to publish “the most controversial thing (he’s) ever posted” before sharing three minutes later that the injury helped him pocket $79,428.16.

The winning ticket included a $100 stake on a five-leg parlay at +79,328 odds. The individual legs were as follows.

  • Jaxson Dart under 6.5 longest consecutive completions
  • Jaxson Dart under 1.5 passing touchdowns
  • Jaxson Dart under 107.5 passing yards
  • Jaxson Dart under 5.5 rushing yards
  • Jaxson Dart under 0.5 interceptions

Donating winnings

Settleman said he placed his winning wager as a hedge for a fantasy matchup. He confirmed just before midnight Monday that the winnings had been paid by Hard Rock Bet.

It didn’t take long for Settleman to find a way to use his new funds.

YouTube streamer digge546 wrote on X on Monday afternoon that he wouldn’t livestream that evening as he and his wife grieved the death of their son. Settleman said he came across the post and felt it was “like a message from god.” Settleman then offered to help with funeral costs and was ultimately able to get in contact with the individual.

Settleman is the founder and CEO of Snapback Sports, a creator-led digital sports and social media brand. The company launched in 2017 and built a presence on Snapchat, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and X.

Giants' outlook after Dart's injury

The Giants went on to lose Monday’s prime-time matchup with the Rams, 28-6.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport shared postgame that Dart is believed to have suffered a sprained MCL based on initial exams. He said X-rays were negative but that Dart is expected to miss time.

New York is now only +260 to make the playoffs with Dart’s long-term health in question. Additionally, Big Blue are -180 to finish the season with under 8.5 wins. That’s after they beat the odds and took down the Dallas Cowboys at home in Week 1.

The Giants are still -3 favorites at home against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
