Customers have to enroll in Bet Protect+ before placing their wagers. There is no limit on how many bets can be protected, and every use of Bet Protect+ for pre-game and live NFL wagers will be totally free throughout September. Activating the insurance option previously cost 3% of the total wager.
Let’s say that a user bet on Jaxon Smith-Njigba as an anytime touchdown scorer in the Super Bowl rematch on opening night. If Smith-Njigba left the game with an injury at any point without having scored a touchdown, the bettor would be given a full cash refund.
Had the Smith-Njigba touchdown wager been included in a three-leg parlay, the leg would be removed, and the parlay’s odds would be recalculated based on the value of the two remaining legs.
This is a significant change from the previous approach and 3% fee.
Although coverage still applied to entire games and refunds were still cash-based, a $50 bet would cost $1.50 to protect. In other words, two of three possible outcomes (win, loss, Bet Protect+) would result in the bettor losing money.
Bet Protect+ charges were also paid pre-game, meaning that even winning wagers would carry the 3% charge in case Bet Protect+ was needed.
