A popular European and Ontario-established iGaming operator is expanding into the latest regulated Canadian province.
- Betway and Golden Tiger Casino are among more than 30 current iGaming platforms operating in Alberta.
- The Super Group-owned sportsbook and online casino brand also operates in Ontario.
- The renowned brand exited the U.S. market completely in 2025.
The Alberta iGaming Corp announced Monday evening that Betway Canada has been added to the province's list of operating sports betting and online casino sites, along with Apollo Entertainment’s Golden Tiger Casino.

There are more than 30 Alberta sports betting and/or Alberta online casinos active in a regulated iGaming market that launched on July 13.
The Super Group-owned Betway and Golden Tiger Casino were among the early group of approved applicants by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis (AGLC), which regulates and oversees iGaming.
Alberta decided last year to become the second Canadian province behind Ontario to end grey-market betting and create a regulatory framework. More than 50 platforms began registering for a license in January and have been approved, and sites began pre-registering customers a month later.
Competitive group
Betway will offer both its sportsbook and online casino in Alberta and joins a competitive group of popular North American and European operators, including FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, bet365, and Caesars.
Major brand Stake is closing in on an Alberta license.
The Super Group brand has been battling many of those operators in Canada since launching iGaming in the province in August 2022.
Super Group, through its subsidiary Cadtree, also registered Spin Casino, but the company’s popular iGaming brand is not on the operating list yet.

Known commodity
A British-based company founded in 2006, Betway holds gaming licenses in more than a dozen countries around the world. The operator is well established in the U.K.
The Super Group-owned operator is also active in Mexico and Argentina. Betway used to operate sports betting and online casinos in the U.S. but began exiting states like New Jersey and Pennsylvania in 2024 before terminating operations completely in 2025 due to regulatory changes and performance.
“We therefore intend to focus capital and resources on markets where we see the greatest opportunity for scalable, sustainable, profitable super growth, with a disciplined emphasis on operational efficiency,” Super Group CEO Neal Menashe said in July 2025.
