Churchill Downs Free Picks

Race No. 6, $62,500 Optional Claiming, Post: 3:42 p.m. ET

Pick: No. 1 Free Enterprise (7/5)

Recently crushed allowance company much tougher than he's up against today two starts back. Last time out he tried his luck versus stakes company and disappointed as a short price favorite.

Today he will be a short price once again and looks to be dangerous capitalizing off a stalking trip behind some of the early speed. The price will be very short at post, but this gelding looks like a logical single in your exotic wagers.

Race No. 7, $81,000 Allowance, Post: 4:14 p.m. ET

Pick: No. 9 Lead Guitar (3/1)

Her turf sprint times are seconds faster than most have raced and that bodes well for this filly who will almost surely be put into play pending a good break. Today she returns to racing over a firm turf course and gets another try versus allowance company after a runner up finish after a slower than ideal break from the gate.

Although she does make the move to a new barn and new trainer, she definitely looks like the one to beat among this group.

Race No. 8, $79,000 Maiden, Post: 4:46 p.m. ET

Pick: No. 4 The Feature (6/1)

Looked good last start working out a closing effort after drawing the difficult 12 post. Drawing poorly has been a theme for this colt who has had the unfortunate circumstance of an outside draw in all three of his parimutuel efforts.

With many in here making their racing debut, having experience not only on the track, but at the sprinting distance could come in handy for this colt who wouldn't need to be that much better to find the winners circle today.

Belmont Park Free Picks

Race No. 7, $56,000 Allowance, Post: 4:32 p.m. ET

Pick: No. 4 Dante's Fire (8/1)

Took a few tries to finally break his maiden, but he did so capitalizing off an excellent trip to get up in time. Through his recent efforts, it does appear he's much better racing at a route distance, and we've also seen that he could be a factor when drawing a better post like he has today to work with.

In a wide open field, I think coming in with a victory last time out could do wonders for this gelding's confidence. If he works out a trip similar to his most recent, he will be heard from late.

Race No. 10, $64,000 Maiden, Post: 6:08 p.m. ET

Pick: No. 2 Nic and Zoe (6/1)

Made her racing debut in late August at Saratoga versus some quality fillies. She did go off as the post time favorite and tried to flaunt some early speed, but unfortunately that resulted in a duel upfront where she ended up finishing off the board.

Today she draws inside, removes blinkers, and gets to meet a much easier group. With quite a bit of speed entered, hoping to see this filly and jockey Dylan Davis working out a patient trip with a late rally - she draws a good post to do so.
