The U.S. Open heads to Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina for the first time since 2014. Pinehurst is a Par-70, 7,543-yard track designed by Donald Ross that underwent a renovation in 2010 by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.
While Coore and Crenshaw added some of their own changes to the landscape, the traditional Ross signature remains the same: small, undulating greens that you absolutely must hit in order to win. These greens are going to bake throughout the week and continue to run out at high rates, so the most precise ball strikers will possess a huge advantage over the rest of the field.
Here are my best golf picks ahead of this week’s major championship.

2024 U.S. Open prop picks
Sungjae Im Top 10 (+650)
Sungjae Im kicked off the campaign with a T5 finish at The Sentry, which, of course, is contested at Kapalua (Plantation Course). I mention this performance because Kapalua is another Coore and Crenshaw influenced venue.
However, after that performance, Im fell off the radar for about three months and eventually went on to miss the cut at the Masters. I believe this missed cut was the final straw for him mentally because Im then went to Korea to get his head and game right.
He did just that, winning a championship over there before coming back to the Tour and subsequently firing off three T10 finishes over his next four tournaments. Im’s game seems to be all the way back, and we must remember how good this guy is when his game is on.
I don’t think the market has quite caught up to that sentiment yet because I believe +650 is a terrific number to take for Im to finish inside the Top 10.
Pick: Sungjae Im Top 10 finish (+650 at bet365)
Byeong Hun An Top 10 (+650)
I’m targeting another golfer in the same market at the same price. Byeong Hun An has been one of my favorite golfers this season, demonstrating brilliant iron play while hitting bombs off the tee.
Those two things will give him a major edge this week — especially when you talk about the importance of sticking approach shots close at Pinehurst. An also enters this week in great form, posting five T10 finishes over 15 tournaments this season.
That type of run bodes well when you look at a prop that returns 13/2.
An is also a guy who has had some great success on Ross designs, finishing runner-up at last year’s Wyndham Championship (Sedgefield Country Club) and third in 2019.
Pick: Byeong Hun An Top 10 finish (+650 at bet365)
Bryson DeChambeau Top LIV golfer (+360)
This is a fun bet on LIV Golf’s best player at the moment (sorry Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm). Bryson DeChambeau put together a brilliant performance at the PGA Championship, finishing runner-up (and as the top LIV golfer).
While Xander Schauffele closed the event out, that shouldn’t take away from how well DeChambeau played across the board. There was not a single weakness in his game: he was sinking putts and chips from off the green, tossing darts on the approach, and still obviously hitting bombs off the tee.
DeChambeau was also the first-round leader at Augusta this year before finishing in sixth, once again finishing (tied for) as LIV’s top golfer.
Pick: Bryson DeChambeau Top LIV golfer (+360 at DraftKings)
