The 125th edition of the U.S. Open gets underway this week at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania.

Here are my three best U.S. Open picks for this week’s major championship. As always, monitor the U.S. Open odds and available pricing, as the player prop market is constantly changing.

Predictions for the 2025 U.S. Open

U.S. Open prop picks

Pick: Scottie Scheffler most birdies or bettter
+800 at DraftKings

If you like Scottie Scheffler to win this tournament, his prop to lead the field in birdies or better at 8/1 offers far more value than his short +275 outright price.

Oakmont figures to be a bloodbath, with the winning score projected to finish around even par. Birdies will be tough to come by, meaning the best players in the field will have an easier job distancing themselves.

Simply put, this is Scheffler’s tournament to lose. He's far and away the best player in the world and should have better looks at birdie than anyone else in the field. He's the best tee-to-green player on the planet and ranks third on Tour this season in birdie-or-better percentage.

Pick: Ludvig Aberg Top 20
+115 at DraftKings

Speaking of generational superstars, Ludvig Aberg is likely next in line. Does he already have what it takes to take down Scheffler? Probably not yet, but he can certainly compete against the rest of this field.

There's no weakness in Aberg’s game, so he can maneuver this venue better than most. He gains strokes against the Tour average in driving, approach, around the green, and putting.

Aberg is one of the highest-floor players among the elite, even if his ceiling isn’t quite that of Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, or Bryson DeChambeau. While Aberg has yet to win a major through his first six attempts, he's finished inside the Top 12 in half of them.

Pick: Aaron Rai Top 30
+115 at DraftKings

One of the most significant obstacles to overcome this week is Oakmont’s rough terrain. If you miss fairways, you may need to bring a shovel for your second shot.

Subsequently, staying safe off the tee will prove paramount, which serves as a massive advantage for Aaron Rai. He's the most accurate driver of the golf ball on Tour this season, by far the strongest part of his game.

The putter may prove troublesome on these slippery greens, but Rai’s recent approach play suggests he’ll be able to stick shots close and avoid difficult three-putts. He's gained true strokes on approach in five of his past seven tournaments, including the Masters and PGA Championship.
