Uncovering the post-Lynx Jinx (but it's not really a jinx)
@guyhopestowin
They called themselves pro! We did not. Just bunch of ladies trying to play bball. They got no balance n cant jump. Every game have llts of airball. Surprised their salary increased 5 to 7 times last 2 years. They play so we can bet n everyone make money

@Lefty2023
the frequency and duration of runs in wnba compared to nba is crazy. in wnba, a team scores 10 unanswered easily and many times during every game-I get ladies are emotional and quickly lose their control but if this is case then dont be athletes. I feel bad for people who came tonight to watch Fire-even in high school level this is unacceptable

The post-Lynx jinx result depends on what number you got on the Fire. My number +4.5 -105 was not good enough.
The line on this game was +4 on the overnight line because Mystics star Shakira Austin was questionable. Then the line rose to +5.5 early this morning indicating that the Mystics would have their full lineup.
In the early afternoon, Austin was listed as a gametime decision which dropped the line nearly everywhere to +4. But she was in the starting lineup and had a huge game with 31 points on 11-18 shooting.
How disgusting to lose the full game bet by the hook because of the uncertainty of one star player’s availability. But, I won the 1st half bet, and it turns out my Fire moneyline action (which totaled $9,360) didn’t matter at all because 100% of it was parlayed to the Sky +4, the Sky +140, or under 165 in the Was/Por game (all pitiful losers).
I needed Mystics starting guard Georgia Amoore to miss 1 of 2 free throws with 4.2 seconds left, but dammit, Georgia didn’t miss.

As for the Sky………oh, man. Are you ready for this?
Thirty seconds into that game, something occurred to me that made me freeze. I realized I had likely made a big phucking mistake, the kind I (almost) never make.
I realized that in backing the Sky, I was backing a team coming off back-to-back wins and covers and going against a team coming off back-to-back SU & ATS losses. Sitting there watching the first minute of the game, I was at a loss to explain to myself how I could have made this mistake.
Was I still feeling too grateful to the Sky for helping me win over fifty grand on Friday night when they upset the Valykries and kept the game under 164? Yes, that had to be part of it.
Was l mentally blinded by the fact that I had great numbers today on the Sky with +4, +3.5, and moneyline +140? Yes, that was undoubtedly part of it, too.
All week I’ve been betting against the Fever knowing their lines were getting pumped up as their winning streak went along. But after last night‘a loss to the Libs in Brooklyn, the winning streak was long gone and had been replaced by a 2-game losing streak. I pointed out today in another thread that the Fever were 3-0 this season after back-to-back losses, but I think the bigger factor for me was that tonight they were playing their 6th game in the last 9 days, their 3rd game in the last 4 days, and the second of a back-to-back.
And again, I was too appreciative of the Sky and too aware that they had covered 11 of their last 13 home games, including a cover vs. the Fever on August 8th.
At halftime, with the Sky leading 51-50, I had a golden opportunity to ditch my Sky action. I ditched some of it, betting on the Fever -2 and -2.5, but only for two dimes each. That’s all I could get. If I wanted to ditch more I would have had to lay -2.5 -120, and I couldn’t stomach doing that.
I hoped at halftime that all the games, and all the travel, would have its effect on the Fever, but oh boy that is now how things went. Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell both got red-hot and finished with a combined 67 points. The Fever made it clear to everyone watching that they were NOT going down to defeat for the third game in a row.

Still ridiculous to see a 70 points quarter and washing had 32/44 free throws. Lol
Yeah………but l didn’t get to see a darn thing because that game was not on in the casino.

Chicago’s Sydney Taylor, my hero on Friday night when she scored 18 points in only 14 minutes of play, including a huge game-tying three with 38 seconds left AND the game-winning three with less than one second left, had a forgettable game tonight vs. the Fever. On Friday night she made 4 of 6 shots from beyond the arc.
Tonight? 0 for 6.

Dijonai Carrington, the Sky prima donna who clotheslined Sophie Cunningham two weeks ago, was not available to play on Friday night vs. Golden State and I loved that.
Unfortunately, she returned tonight. This unserious player thinks she is the female Kobe Bryant. She shot a poor 3-11 and bricked all three of her 3-point attempts. In the 3rd quarter, she had the ball at the free throw line while being covered by two defenders. So what did she do? She spun away from them and attempted a patented Kobe fadeaway.
And she missed. Good grief.

Are we going to be on GS tomorrow night? Do the lynx really sweep them 4 games
Pride is on the line for the Valykries tomorrow night. The powerful Lynx made them look like phonies last Wednesday in San Francisco, running their record against the second year Valykries to a perfect 9-0. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Valyks finally topple the 31-7 Lynx. Golden State is 3-0 this season after back-to-back losses, though they played at home after each of the first three occurrences.
The Lynx don't need the game, but the Valykries do. A third consecutive loss here will drop them into a virtual tie with the Aces for the #2 seed.

ok but this does not explain why Fire started playing like this at 4th. Unacceptable, a professional basketball team must not play 4th like this after 3 quarters
My concern with the Fire heading into this game is that they hadn't been able to record a win over a good team in over a month. And something I simply forgot is that their most recent win over a good team......happened in Washington, D.C. vs. the Mystics!
On July 16th the Fire laid a shocking 75-56 defeat on the Mystics, covering the spread by 25.5 points. That loss sent the Mystics on an 8-0 ATS run that also saw them win seven games in a row. I now believe that the memory of that embarrassing home loss to the Fire is what gave the Mystics the juice they had tonight in the 4th quarter.

Yes, they lost all three matchups this season and are 0-9 vs. the Lynx all-time.

That militant blue-haired (but very talented) Courtney Williams is out for the Lynx, replaced in the starting lineup by the weak Maya Caldwell.
I have small action on the Valykries +155 parlayed to under 78.5 in the 1st half. That is it. I missed my chance to take +5.5 for the full game because I didn’t know about Williams.
