Over 3,500 posts... are you guys making any money? I don't see Mavin's record posted anywhere. It looks to me like this is the longest and most useless thread in Covers history. Am I wrong?

Just joined today, but at least it has a very posotive approach something most people need.

thats why i wait right b4 games on lines though...especially ones like that....i just realized it was -4 and a half earlier......guess i got somewhat lucky but i still feel they should have finished that earlier
I bought the 2 points to 2.5 but that as on a parlay with the over which did not work out- also had them straight up and got the line at -205 which later dropped to -170.
With this win I know have an extra $50 parlay

Yesterday was very interesting in the NFL as a pattern I thought would develop occurred but I did not bet enough on it I guess. As stated before I know this is by no means fool proof but on some back and forth with Melo I stated that last week all the favorites covered and all games went under and that this week the early game dogs had covered or won and went over and the late game saturday the fav covered and went over- So I bet the seahawks and over on this theory and it worked out by itself (lost $50 on the a live bet money line which really almost hit also) and also kept my teaser alive with the knicks working out earlier in the day as well. After seeing this pattern (I know patterns don't always play out) I decided I already had NE covering a -3 on the teaser and -7 on an open parlay I decided to add them to other $1 parlays and to bet each outcome separate by starting other open parlays of $50 one that included OKC winning and 49ers -3 for next weekend with two open spots to which I will most likely be adding the patriots spread at -7 or the money line if it goes to the 300 area-
All in all not counting the open parlay wins that still are not completed finished the day up $600 after the small parlay and teasers losses of -$115 for the day- There is still a lot of potential money to be made by making some more correct picks within the next few weeks. Saturday was a positive day of only $125 after parlay loses of $22- I have not been posting all my bets because most of them are parlays and its a hassle to copy and paste does as I have to copy it to word and then take out the fames and copy here. (too many characters) and because they may clog up the forum with bets that most people feel don't follow the true meaning of the thread. I will keep posting individual games and my reasoning just keep in mind that most of those games will be parlayed even if I mention them separate as I like to start with a parlay and then follow the flow and middle or adjust right before game time or at half time or by quarter if game is on live bet.
I will also add that the parlay loses each included about 6-7 wins on the low end out of 10 picks- my goal is to cut down the picks as I get better at handicapping- If not for Toronto and OKC not covering my rough calculations are that I would have another $1900 worth of profits.

I mean thats a big point of this thread, is to make everyone better at betting as a whole, not about what so and sos record is. Do results, show acknowledgement of a certain method, well of course it does. But those results are over a long, long, haul, not a day, or week, or sometimes even a month...after a few months you get an idea of what is really going on. Now do i expect to be up every month, of course I do, but the fact that people keep jumping on how someone does in one day....unless they bet 40 games and lose 35, it doesn't show a true projection of how you bet. We all have to keep an open mind, however that doesn't mean come on here and go: dude my record is like 35-12 in last ten days, and then post your picks, show no method for winnning, and then reject everyone elses way of betting. Obviously there are exceptions, like that idiot yesterday who just said i bet 70 games and get 5 percent value, you obvoiusly have to make sense, in why you bet a certain way that you do that shows profit. But I guess my point, is I'm open to different forms of betting, as long as it is profitable, but those are results we have to see over time, I don't plan on changing my approach much, but we can all learn new ways to make money.....I mean seriously for the last time, this thread is more about the methods of being profitable over time, not wow dude you suck you went 1-4 today......and of course it doesn't mean I am going to agree with the way everyone bets, but if it works for you and its profitable, I'm willing to hear about it, We can all take what we want from what each person says, and get the rid of what we dont want. There is no reason to be judgemental of the way people bet unless its obvious over time that your way wouldn't be profitable or that we feel that a certain way might be better to bet. But we can all learn, I mean how many times do you hear Mavin compliment other people for there bets. Now, how many times do you think Mavin goes on other peoples threads and tells them everything they are doing wrong in their betting styles???....We all have a certain way that works for us, but we can all get better at this.....so lets make some money and support each other at the same time....

See last night, when i was lookin at the line for the Magic game, I was seeing money already in my pocket on betting the Magic because of the way they have been doing against the spread lately and how good they play on the road-in atleast keeping games close. Then I started reading up some and studying games against each other, and the more I thought about it, the more I started leaning Washington. I am definetly waiting to hear about if Jordan Crawford is playing because he dropped 27 on the Magic last time they played and they wouldnt have won the game without him. But John Walls 2nd game back he shold be playing around 24-30 mins tonight I think. Washington has won 2 in a row, and not against cupcake teams either were talking OKC and ATL. Plus they are at home, which lets face it, this year (just like many other years, obviously but more extensively this year if you look at home records) the home teams have been winning at a huge rate. If Crawford plays, were talking about 3 guys in the back court that are somewhat athletic, John Wall, Bradley Beal and then Crawford(who can be a streaky good shooter). if that backcourt can play aggresive and Nene and Okafor can get some easy points inside from Wall and Beals penetration, I see Washington winning this game. Now, it does bother me how well the Magic plays away from home, how well they do against the spread and that lord never knows how Jameer Nelson is going to play in a certain game. He really leads that team, if you watch them play extensively. Another thing that can be hard to gauge about the Magic is Redick and Afflalo, when they shoot lights out especially from 3 point range, they can be a hard team to beat. There is no question both Redick and Afflalo have been more consistent shooting the ball this year, it's just how much damage are they going to do. Now Nene is still a little banged up with a knee problem, gotta see about Crawford, and Cartier Martin is also most likely out for Washington (I dont see Martin being a huge loss, he is streaky as well). Right now though I'm still no the ropes about which way to go with this one....might not bet at all....or I might go either way....still got more researching to do on this game....but i was wondering why it is that you like washington whoop whoop

Buddy, even if I stop posting my picks altogether - this thread served, serves and will serve it's purpose. That purpose unites number of people who participate in a thinking process regarding sports handicapping. You can call it a "think tank". This thread is clean of "bet your house" slogans as well as the rest of characteristics that attract people with short sight. If you notice - the negative reactions only come from a very few people who are here for just feeding on a "get rich quick" scams. Sorry buddy - this is not about that. Your assumptions as where I'm headed and what are my goals are most probably the expression of your hidden agenda by which you measure other peoples actions. I regret you feel that way and suggest to take a deep look into your inner soul to see why are trying to trigger negativity and once you found that - rush to take care of that. You'll thank me later.
