You are correct to a certain extent but I think Mavin does make parlays and correct me if am wrong so does Melo- that being said I do post what some of my straight picks are also. But you are correct this thread is probably not for me since I start the day with 1-2 parlays and then start my handicapping mostly which I like to do at 1/2 after seeing what the game flow is. Enjoy your thread.

You prob. did not really get what it is that I do. In simple terms I research my picks and then I parlay them with small money to set them up- then I I will cherry pick the best ones dig deeper into the news on the games etc and place some of those as straight bets and adjust/hedge with live betting at the half.

For instance today I had the ravens 9.5 and at half time added the ravens 7.5 - Had the packers +3 and at half time went with the O23 those two games were parlayed for $50 and then I bet $100 on each bet there after as I the flow of the game dictated which covers me for the loss and a profit.

Tomorrow all I have to worry about is covering $55 and can bet accordingly- what the starting parlay and teaser do is have a homerun swing set up if it does not happen I will be hitting singles and taking some walks during the games.

Teasers are not for everyone but read up above- Its a homerun swing- I can tell you that I hit 40-60% of the contents of the parlay- the parlay and teaser are there in case I hit them all it adds to my other wagers.

I really think that if you are handicapping and are good at it you should try Parlay with open spots-

The bet can be as small as $50 and you add it as you go. So if you were to go on a 5-0 day why not do less on the straight bet and start the open spot parlay? To complete this one I need two more picks...

    PARLAY (6 TEAMS)

    01/05 2013 @ 08:15 PM

    NFL

    [104] GREEN BAY -400

    01/07/2013 @ 08:40 PM

    CFB

    [269] ALABAMA -360

    01/04/2013 @ 10:15 PM

    CFB

    [2263] 2H TEXAS A&M -2-105

    01/04/2013 @ 10:15 PM

    CFB

I really think that if you are handicapping and are good at it you should try Parlay with open spots-

The bet can be as small as $50 and you add it as you go. So if you were to go on a 5-0 day why not do less on the straight bet and start the open spot parlay? To complete this one I need two more picks...

Got another great play for you guys tomorrow.  Seattle/Atlanta under 45.  You're talking about two teams who love to control the clock and run the garbage out of the football.  Both teams are also very big on field position.  This one screams 20-17 to me. Best of luck to all always.

Yesterday was  uncharacteristically sloppy for me. Two plays I forced both lost turning a 1-1 day into 1-3. Less is more.

    4-3 +50.

    January 13, - Bet 01
    New York Knicks -6.5 - $114 to win $100

In spite of massive betting on the Knicks, the ines keeps moving in their favor (from -7.5 down to -6.5). This would invite me to bet on NOLA to cover the spread, but seeing how there are many games yet to be played later on, I'll take this as the Vegas way of giving us an ego boost before frustrating us with the evening plays.

just went through the lines real quick and noticed what appears to be RLM in the Knicks/hornets game:line opened at 7.5 and is now down to 6.5 with public support on knicks side.Denver/Gstate game:line opened up -5.5 for denver and is now -6 with public support on Gstate.OKC/Portland game opened at -5 for OKC and is now down to 4.5 with public support on OKC.public support still needs to checked to make sure.

LAL makes 8.9 a game, meaning they can hope to accumulate roughly 27 points off 3 pointers tonight (9 X 3). OKC can hope to make 23 points off 3 pointers (7.6 x 3 = 22.8). That is a 4 point benefit to LAL. Now, look at the wasted possessions. LAL is going to waste 16 possessions, OKC is going to waste 11.5 possessions. That is a 4.7 possession advantage for OKC. OKC hits FG at 47.8%. 4.7 X 47.8% is 2 extra points. So, 4-2 is 2. The Lakers, if all goes according to plan can only hope to gain 2 points by lofting up all those 3 pointers? I don't see the value there. It assumes that the Lakers have to maintain their 35% clip on 3 pointers.

Utah +4.5. Atlanta makes 8.9 a game (26.7 pts) and Utah makes 6.5 a game (19.5 pts). This gives Atl a potential 7.2 advantage. Atl gives away 14.7 possessions a game on missed 3 pts. Utah wastes 11.1 possessions. That is a 3.6 advantage for Utah and they make 44.4% of FG. 3.6 x .444 = 1.59 extra FG made x 2 pts = 3. Atlanta, assuming both teams hit at their averages is only gaining four points from all their 3 pointers. And they are giving away -4.5 pts in the spread.

GS -7.5. I would be most worried about this one based on the big spread. But, in this case Golden State would actually come out ahead in the calculation. I won't go through the above calculations again but, GS is actually going to gain points on Portland despite attempting 3.6 less 3 pointers. Attempting less, giving away less possessions and still getting more points, that's what I am looking for"

The above picks are the ones I was looking at yesterday. I am not betting on these at this point, just tracking/observing. I have to say, so far in my basketball betting experience I have watched three games start to finish: Thursdays Kings game, last nights Utah game and the GS game. All three I had an interest in, tailing Mavin on the Kings and watching the latter two for my 3 pt theory. In all three cases the team I was rooting for had at least a 15 point lead late in the 3rd quarter. And I mean late, like 2 minutes to go in the third. And all three had atrocious 4th quarters. Makes me wonder why any b-ball fan watches the first 3 quarters - just tune in for the fourth. Anyway, small sample size, I can't imagine this is always the case, just thought it was a strange coincidence.

As for the games last night, OKC was an easy winner. I feel good about the Utah game. They had a 17 point lead with 2:10 to go in the 3rd quarter. Atlanta made what I can only imagine is a remarkable comeback - for those watching the game, the Atlanta commentators were in shock at their own teams performance. Plus, Atlanta shot 47% from 3 point range. Which is absurd considering their season average is only 37% - that seems like a huge outlier. So, I will chalk that up to a tough loss. When it comes to the GS game, I guess I was right to be worried about the big line. They also collapsed in the fourth but, I saw no other reason than a team at home, with a big lead, slowing down with a win in their pocket. Chalk that up to avoiding big lines (maybe over 6?).

    Tonight's games:

I see three more worth paying attention to.

Phi -1. Philly attempts 9 fewer three pointers a game than Houston and they hit at the same percentage. This is very similar to the stats for Houston - Boston last night, which I stayed away from. I won't do the same here. I think this is what I am looking for. Two teams who are equal at doing something that is not overly successful (35%) yet, Philly is wise enough to do it 9 fewer times a game.

Chi -8.5. Similar to last nights GS game, the spread is a little big, so maybe this is the kind of game I will avoid in the future. But, Chicago attempts 5 fewer three pointers a game and they hit them at a higher percentage - this is exactly the formula I was originally looking for when I thought of this. Again, the spread is worrisome but, we are just tracking here.

Memphis -1.5. Memphis attempts 5 fewer three point shots a game then Dallas and they hit at almost the same ratio (Mem 34.8%, Dal 35.1). Again, like the Chicago game, this may be a reach. The reason being, originally I was looking for one team that was above the league average of 20.1 attempts and one that was below. In this case both teams are below the league average. However, the disparity is still five, so I will track this one as well. This game would also be one where I am not sure how to apply situation stuff - being that Memphis won an emotional home overtime game last night.

I obviously need to refine this a little as it is now 2-4. I think I need to stick the small spreads and stay away from the teams that, while they shoot less, have terrible percentages. So today I have two that fit.

Mil +2.5. They shoot the 3 less and have almost the same percentage (0.7 less).

OKC -4.5. This might seem like overkill because I am not sure, using this strategy, if I won't be forced to take OKC every time. They shoot less three than almost anyone and have an almost 40% success rate.

Last week all the favs covered and all games went under-

This week we already had two blowup of the over and one shocker and one good game for 3 quarters.

Today I have in the NFL Seahwawks +3 and Over Over and Pats -7 and Over on teaser and parlays and as single games- Not sold on both overs quite yet- but even if Atlanta wins I can't pick them because of their history in the Playoffs-

I like OKC on this one- my theory is that I have been following the blazzers and kings all season and they have won some games against top contenders- I wonder how long they can keep this going. When they have played each other it has gone both ways meaning the kings and the blazzers. I had the blazzers in the first matchup against the kings and won 103-86 and then went the other way the next matchup and won 99-80 then again reversed and won 108-96 then I lost 91-109 what I noticed is that most games came over 180 or so- then I started looking at how both these teams fared against the knicks and the heat they have both beaten the knicks as of late- but against the heat a faster paced team with the exception this week they fail to keep up thus I think against OKC you have a game over 200 and OKC covers- Thats why I am going over on the game and OKC-

Portland has been playing very good ball but only in the second half... I.E against Mia and

Mil +2.5. They shoot the 3 less and have almost the same percentage (0.7 less).

OKC -4.5. This might seem like overkill because I am not sure, using this strategy, if I won't be forced to take OKC every time. They shoot less three than almost anyone and have an almost 40% success rate.

I might be misreading your post, but if anything I see this as the books' invitation to take the Knicks, not NOLA.  In any case, I'm playing NO+6.5 (2-1 yesterday, 4-3 on the thread) -- I don't think it's ever Vegas' intention of giving bettors a freebie win for an ego boost.

    New Orleans +7 -120

    4-3 +50 overall

Knicks are flat out struggling right now and injuries are catching up with them. They will right the ship, but I see the 7 as too much here.

Football bonus - I will probably play the short money line on the Falcons.  I just find this to be a very bad spot for the Seahawks.  People tend to forgot about the teams that have a bye.  I think the Falcons come out and stick it to the Hawks.

    Good luck.

NIce job man, that's now 7-3 on this thread correct? keep the good picks coming. Im thinking Brooklyn wins at home tonight. Indiana is a let down team on the road after winning a couple at home. -4 seems like a lot but Brooklyn can score 100+ points a night at home and Indiana on the road is 0-4 after after winning the previous game by 5-9 points. I'm taking Brooklyn to Cover -4 at home especially with George still dealing with the flu.
