I couldn't sleep last night. This is something I will regret if I don't do. Even if it dosent look good on paper this is something I'll always wonder about if I don't try it. I'm 71-48-3 +$11056 in Nfl seperate betting this season let alone.. Those winnings could be 50-60K out there. Who hits at 60% after that many bets? I gotta do this. I'm shaking so excited thinking about this. Emailing the President of company now to see when he is free to talk. Enough talking and thinking about it time to put it in motion

I officially just quit. President of company was happy for me knows how I love to bet and I'm good. Asked me how many weeks notice and I said two. Friday January 16th my last day and then looks like I can start my Treck out there shortly after. I am so excited. I'm young no kids or wife. Why not go for my dreams. Finally doing something for ME. Will keep u updated if u want fellas

The aspect of this thread that is fascinating is just how much interest there is in the dream of "rolling up stakes, and heading to vegas".

3400+ views....many veteran covers handicappers weighing in on the subject.....tens of haters, tens of supporters. TONS of interest.

The story really has something for everyone; the older guys are envious of the chase, and the younger guys are lusting for the action.  Even the professional gamblers feel inclined to weigh in on the subject, in an attempt to offer the help and guidance that they have come by the hard way.

Screw it. I am opening up a kickstarter account with the hopes of creating a documentary of "the dream".  50k stake, 1 year in the life of a guy who is determined to become a professional handicapper in Vegas. The camera is always on...winning and losing streaks documented in earnest.  Real betting action........win or lose.

Probably need another 15k for production, but the 50k stake should be just enough cash to make it interesting and simulate the stress involved in trying to make "the dream" a reality.

The real money is in selling the dream, not trying to live it.

Funny you say that, because I was thinking the same exact thing when he started this thread.  Was going to suggest documenting all the plays, and to keep a record of your thoughts so that at the very worst, if you go broke, you can write a book or a script and make some cash afterward.  Youtube is probably a good idea.

Good luck CG.  Be confident, but stay humble.  The gambling gods are a fickle bunch.

F ya I'm glad you decided to go.

If you are young, single, w no kids... then why not.

Worst case scenario is you go broke and head home and start over.
Big deal, happens in life all the time.

Like you said, if you don't do it now you will regret it the rest of your life because the time will probably come where you will not be able to.  GOOD LUCK !

Good luck, CG. I really wish you would have started in football season given your success. However, all professional gamblers say baseball is the easiest money to make it on but I know you and I have had some ridiculous 9th inning losses from Heath Bell :)

Football would be ideal but I need a break and always wanted and needed to do this. First step taken today. Such a relief now knowing I'm leaving my job Friday the 16th. I'll be in Vegas by Super Bowl easily!

Just read your thread and it looks like you changed your mind.  Smart decision.  EVERYTHING changes once you have to depend on your gambling income to live on.  Also, you seem like a guy who likes to party and impress the chicks.  Do you know how expensive it is to party in Vegas?  You can easily blow a couple grand during a night out in Vegas.  The clubs out there are specifically designed to rape you out of as much money as they can.  I remember in the 90s you could go out to Vegas and go out for the night and drink relatively cheap at the clubs back then.  Not any more.  $50 cover charges, $50 drinks, $1000 for a table and bottle service. 

It will be a money sieve out there.  A great place to visit and have fun, but living there can be hazardous to your health.

I did not read the last page though before writing this.  Looks like you changed your mind again.  All I am going to say is be careful of the party scene and the white powder.  It will eat up all your money real quick.

Hey CG...  Very important at your age, after bills and all expenses to save at least $500 a month.  Just put in bank, never touch.  At least $500.  How much are you looking to profit on gambling...before you pay your bills...food, ect.   Seems like you need to make 4k after taxes, and you will be ok.  Around 50k a year after taxes, and you will be able to live decent and save some money.

Yes Lovethedough I will be planning on saving a good big of cash Monthly. My immediate winnings each month I'll put away to pay for rent and my cell phone, car bill and student loan. And then go from there. I have to report each bet for tax purposes correct? Also I think I can count my gas driving to and from casino towards taxes?

No.  You could get away with reporting nothing.  But I would report at least half.  Just to contribute to this great country.  We need money for bombs and the underprivileged.  And just to be safe report some money.  No need to account for every bet.  Just claim an amount first year.
