Collegegambler, having a job can really be mundane, but it provides you with financial security. EVERY gambler experiences cold streaks, but once you quit your job, the stresses of the losses will become exponentially greater.

I would wish you well, as I had the same aspirations as you many years ago. But I was very naive, and thought I had reinvented the gambling wheel. And mentioning "locks" makes you doomed for failure before you even start your trek.

My best advice would be to chase your dream, since you are not going to let anyone stop you from doing so. But don't burn any job bridges on your way out, regardless of how bad you want out.

Also, once a losing streak hits, or after just a couple of big losing bets, and you have to get that teller job to survive, you will probably be miserable taking bets from all the broke degenerates that hang out in the Vegas sports books.

Exactly. Impressing others is one of the dumbest reasons for him to take on this excursion. I am all for him giving it a shot, but he does not seem grounded in reality, and his priorities are completely out of whack.

You have the basic trait of a sociopath: Never satisfied, regardless of the high achieved from a big winning bet.

As some others have stated, why not go to Vegas for a month or so as a trial run, and then decide if it is permanently for you. Giving up your financial security with the 401K is not a wise decision either way.

You can still gamble large amounts in the states, and even Vegas has betting limits.

i just got paid today... very nice, adding to my 401K as well.. I was very sincere about going but between the 120 degree weather, scorpions, spiders and all kinds of other shitt i here they have out there, 3K monthly expenses, etc I am prob best to just stay put in person Jersey. I can still bet my normal fairly large amount online or if i can get a new bookie too it would be great.

i am always good for the money win or lose. my two other bookies shut me off like i said because of my great NFL year

then i was even thinking how it is a hassle to drive to the sportsbooks and have wads of money with me at all times... it's nice now placing a bet while i am relaxing at home or at work and placing the bet from my iphone in 2 seconds..

Do u know of any work out there? How bout if i got a job at a betting service? i get calls from some 702 area code all the time with these blowout locks where they want me to pay.. i always ignore but it would be fun to call people and give them my plays as my job.

i think it could def win out there the problem would be the nights i do lose a game or two and then i start drinking... i can't tell u how many jams i have been in my life from being a drunk

sounds like lots of good advise from others that have lived this lifestyle. my only advise is to listen to others that have made similar mistakes because we learn two ways... 1. listen to others that have make mistakes or 2. make mistakes ourselves... but the bottom line is... ITS YOUR LIFE! If you hate your job then move and start over. GL. Will be following you.

wow amazing! the first semi-logical and relevant thing you've said in this whole thread. Just find several locals in the NYC/NJ area (not too difficult) and spread your action around.

I think you already know that the responsible choice is to not move out there. Your priorities are drinking and whoring and you don't have a serious plan or really a firm grasp of what it takes to make money.

However, you're still relatively young and if you are going to live the rest of your life regretting not going, then do it.

Rest assured that you are definitely going to lose the 30K or 50K or whatever you're bringing with you... if you're ok with that, won't regret the lost money, and are ok with coming back home in a year or so with nothing and will chalk it up to a fantastic life experience, then do it.

Lose a few games like Western Kentucky over CMU and Pitt over Houston and you'll be running back to the Clearinghouse.

There was a time where a good angle, solid information and the right line would land you a sharps payout. The twitter/internet era killed that consistent look. And anybody that claims they can still retire off of capping is either lying or has Floyd Mayweather money, and lying. We lost that window with web.

So Stay modest, bet small, work a consistent job and don't let the monster make a glass of water out of you too.

CG, great decision and staying in Jersey. With online and bookies, no reason to move to shithole Vegas and end up dead from booze and person. Keep up the solid capping and stay humble brother!!

Thanks for the comments and I came to my senses. Just keep betting online and doing well in football and raking away the consistant paycheck and 9% 401K per check... Up just under $15,000 on the year in College foot and nfl seperate betting this season. Just appreciate my season long threads in each respective sport fellas. Been a football year for the ages for me
